Je me souviens

Well, I have avoided posting because I wasn't quite sure what to say. And I'm still not sure. But for those of you who may have wondered about me or my family I figured I'd post nonetheless. This is not going to be entertaining, but I need to get it out while I remember and for the future ( Read more... )

I don't know what to say. I have been thinking of you and your family, and am so glad to know that you are all safe. I've been to New Orleans, and can't even imagine what it looks like now. It is such a beautiful part of the country, and has touched so many lives over the years with it's charm and excitment. There are just no words to what this devastation has done. :(

Please know that I'm thinking about you, and your family, and those who call New Orleans their home. I hope that one day it will be restored again.

Love and Hugs

That is one of the saddest parts about it for me. Of all the places I've ever been (and I've been to many), New Orleans was different. And not just because it was my home either.

Thanks for your thoughts. :-)

First lemme say that I was thinking about you and your family last week when Katrina hit New Orleans... I have been glued to the TV ever since... I can't believe the devastation I have seen, and the tragedies they have been showing on TV...

I am glad both you and your family are alright.

What part of the city did your family live in?

My parents lived in New Orleans East.

I guess no trip to New Orleans for you this year, huh? :-)

I'm guessing not at this time... we were supposed to go the week after Xmas and stay thru New Years... we already booked the hotel, and bought airline tickets... the hotel has been refunded., but we are waiting to see if American Airlines will refund us 100% on the tickets... if not, we can reschedule for somewhere else, just take a $100 hit on each ticket.

Oh well.. New Orleans will be rebuilt, jobs will come back there... and as soon as it's back on it's feet... I'll be there too... Where else can I get good food... certainly not in SoCal! :-)

I am glad to hear that you and your family are safe...I've been trying to keep my head clear and my spirit up through the usual things I do daily.

I wanted to watch the recent Oprah show which showed her on location but from others I heard it was a very disturbing taping to see. So I don't think I can bother to watch it if there will be a reshowing.

A woman on my discussion board summed up some of the emotions I have because it is -simply UNREAL- how this situation is being (un)dealt with by Bush, the government, etc:

"This was my response on another board when someone complained about showing dead bodies on the broadcasts from New Orleans ( ... )

I have had to drastically trim down my viewing of the aftermath. That is what is most devastating.

Now Bush is denying that race could have had anything to do with how the situation was handled. I don't even see what the point was in even asking him. Like he was going to fess up or something?

I am so glad your family is ok. I have only been through a Catagory 1 hurricane so I can only imagine what the Catatory 4 was like. Those people have really been through a rough time.

Yep. It will be interesting to see what happens to New Orleans and its former residents now.
