Aggie football & marching season are exactly the same.
Yesterday was the big t.u. A&M game. Big rivalry. I watched the game. It was a good game. There were some good plays and bad plays, but plays none the less. Sometimes, the bad plays even worked out, but ut was quicker and more focused. A&M made a few errors, and they paid for it, but I still love my Aggies. Everyone has been giving me crap about the loss. Well, of course ut was gonna win. They’re number 2. I still love my team whether they win or lose.
Actually, it kind of reminds me of marching season. You work so long and hard, and for what? A two? A loss? But you see, it wasn’t a loss at all, well for me it wasn’t. I worked hard. I took the band’s crap too. I had to deal with Kim. And the disagreements and the fighting. I took Foster’s crap. Much longer than anyone else has. The directors didn’t give us (the drum majors) much hope or inspiration. It’s hard having a band that doesn’t care when all you want is passion, fire, and drive. I put effort into the program, more than others. It’s hard to win when people don’t care. It’s hard to win when people don’t show up to practice. It’s hard to win when people don’t have self discipline. It’s hard to win when people think they have better things to do.
IT’S EVEN HARDER TO WIN WHEN SECTION LEADERS ARE WORST ONES. I AM NOT DISSING ON ALL SECTION LEADERS. EVERYONE MAKES MISTAKES EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE, BUT OTHERS “make mistakes” MORE OFTEN THAN THEY SHOULD. SOME SHOW UP LATE. SOME HAVE THE WORST ATTITUDES. GET OFF THE FIELD! I DON’T WANT YOU TO RUIN IT FOR EVERYONE ELSE WHO IS TRYING! SOME DON’T EVEN SHOW UP. I HATE HOW PEOPLE AREN’T IN BAND 1ST PERIOD, BUT THEY MAGICALLY APPEAR FOR 2ND. GREAT SECTION LEADER. I HATE HOW SOME SECTION LEADERS SCHEDULE SECTIONALS AND THEY DON’T EVEN SHOW UP. I HATE HOW SOME OF THEM MISS PRACTICE MON. & TUES AND SHOW UP THURS. ABLE TO MARCH. YOU DON’T DESERVE TO MARCH! AND YOU DON’T DESERVE TO WIN. AND DON’T TELL ME YOU ARE GOING THROUGH “ROUGHT TIMES.” EVERYONE HAS THEIR OWN, AND THEY’RE STILL HERE. I HATE HOW SOME SECTION LEADERS CALL OTHERS HYPOCRITES, BUT YOU ARE THE BIGGEST ONE OF ALL. YOU MIGHT THINK EVERYONE ELSE IS THE BAD GUY, BUT ACTUALLY, YOU ARE. I DON’T THINK THESE ARE GOOD SECTION LEADER QUALITIES. I’M JUST MAKING AN OBSERVATION.
WE DESERVED A TWO. BECAUSE OF PEOPLE LIKE YOU. PEOPLE LIKE YOU, YOU ONLY CARE ABOUT YOURSELF. THE WHOLE BAND MIGHT NOT HAVE BEEN CORRUPT, BUT IT ONLY TAKES A FEW, LIKE YOU. I PITY THOSE WHO WERE DISAPPOINTED ON OCTOBER 15TH. I WAS NOT MAD AT ALL. I DID MY BEST. DID YOU? I LEFT IT ON THE FIELD. BUT YOU COULDN’T, BECAUSE YOU HAD NOTHING TO LEAVE. THAT IS WHY IT MEANT NOTHING TO YOU. IT MEANT SOMETHING TO ME BECAUSE I WENT THROUGH HELL TO GET TO THAT POINT.
Like I said, it reminds of aggie football, except they are passionate about what they are doing, and so am I. They just do their best, and that’s all I could ever ask for. Who cares if they lost? Who cares if we lost? You can’t break my spirit. I gave it my all, and so did they. I still love my Aggies. Gig em Aggies.
