Mormon Wedding...

Mar 23, 2009 10:01

So, on Saturday  I attended the wedding of my best friends brother, who is like my second brother. Recently (year and a half or so) he became Mormon. not a big deal to me. religion for me isn't a hot topic. I have my (Christian) faith and you have whatever you believe. So, because all of the people on the grooms side were not Mormon and most on the bride's side weren't Mormon either they had a vow exchange that allowed everyone to witness. the Bishop kept saying during the vow exchange "this is not the real marriage. I cannot marry them." the basic gist was that this part was just for show. That bothered me. Because to me that was their wedding and marriage as i know a wedding and marriage to be.

Anyway, after the exchange, they went into the temple. This is where I have some major confusion. The hierarchy of the Mormon church. I am not understanding why some Mormons can go in to the temple and why some can't. or why the clothes change? Why can the temple not be open to all who want to the word? If someone could explain this to me in layman's terms that would be great. Cause there are some traditions in every religion that confuse/bother me, which is a main reason why i have my faith and am not a fan of big churches and organized religion.
