Best friends.
What does that term mean, exactly?
In Koyama’s words, a best friend is someone special, more special than anyone else because you can fully trust them. Whether it’s a silly quirk that embarrasses you or a deep, dark secret that tears you apart and leaves you sobbing, a best friend is someone you can trust.
Koyama says all of this while starring at Shige, and it warms his heart to see that loving stare directed at their studious member.
Shige’s answer is fairly similar, but he adds that a best friend isn’t just someone you can trust with your secrets, but with your life. Shige’s expression turns sad, as he continues to explain his point. He knows that if his life was ever in danger, Koyama would take the hit for him, would use his life to ensure Shige’s safety.
Shige stands up suddenly and runs over to Koyama, enveloping him in a tight hug. Koyama just smiles and returns the embrace, resting his cheek against Shige’s un-spiked hair.
Yamapi answers next, hands crossed behind his head and his legs stretched out in front of him. A best friend is someone you can be comfortable with, someone you don’t have to hide from. Yamapi smirks and then winks, reminding the other who is best friend is.
Ah yes, Akanishi-kun.
Nishikido walks and provides his own wisdom on the subject. If you get thrown into prison, a friend would scrape together enough money to bail you, but a best friend would be sitting right beside you in that cell, laughing through the shame.
Those Kanjani8 must get into some crazy shenanigans.
Yamapi must think so too, because he begins to hound Nishikido for answers, chasing the shorter male around the room with a puppy dog pout.
“MASSU!”
A pair of arms encircle his chest and squeeze him tight, and he feels a playful kiss being pressed against his neck. When Tegoshi lets go, he turns around and smiles, eying the curly bangs that are tied up with a light pink ponytail.
“You look like a dork,” he points, and then reaches forward, grabbing a blue colored ponytail from Tegoshi’s wrist. Quickly, he ties back his own bangs and Tegoshi smiles brightly, thanking Massu.
“I’ve learned something today,” he says and Tegoshi sits beside him, head tilted to the side, “About best friends.”
Tegoshi nods, his ponytail bouncing.
“A best friend is someone you can trust with secrets, but you can also trust them with your identity, no matter how icky it might be. A best friend is also someone you’d sacrifice yourself for, whether it’s something big like taking a bullet for them,” he pauses, pointing to his silly looking ponytail, “Or something small, like tying back your bangs so your best friend doesn’t look like a dork alone. A best friend is a very special person, like you, Yuya.
Tegoshi beams at being called by his first name, before tackling Massu with a big hug, “Awe, I love Massu,” he whispers into the other’s neck, holding him close.
"I love you too," he giggles, Tegoshi's curly locks tickling his nose, "Want to go shopping tomorrow?"
Tegoshi pulls back and his eyes travel over Massu's rainbow striped sweater, his nose scrunching up in disdain, but then his features relax and he smiles, nodding excitedly, "Of course!"
