hope you like it~ sorry it ended up being all...heartbreaky.

As soon as the words leave his mouth, Yuya is shocked; his heart, which was once beating so fast and strong, has slowed down considerably. It is barely thumping within his chest, as if seized by some invisible force. Getting weaker and weaker, his heart constricts and his throat feels tight, his palms clammy and his head fuzzy.

And then, when the pain becomes so strong he doesn’t think he can bear it anymore, the sound of glass shattering echoes in his mind.

His friends, though, are unaware. They don’t see the way his shoulders slump forward, as hot tears spring to his eyes, threatening to spill themselves in little lines down his cheeks. They don’t hear his choked breathing, the small whimper that manages to escape as he turns away, a hand over his mouth as he suddenly feels nauseous.

They don’t notice as Yuya’s heart breaks into a million, tiny, jagged little pieces.

He feels destroyed, empty, a broken man who had set his eyes upon the most beautiful person ever, only to have that love ripped away. He had felt so certain that his feelings were not one-sided, that all those text messages and late night phone calls, quiet ‘I love you’s and promises of so much more were real.

He realizes now that they weren’t.

Because while he fell for Kei, Kei was falling for Hikaru.

And Hikaru fell back.

As he makes his way into the men’s restroom, he walks over to the nearest sink and begins to dry his tears; calm his breathing; grab the broken pieces of his heart and put them back together; and last, hide the pain, for there is nothing he can do until it heals on its own.

Until then, he’ll just hide the pain.
