The band went on a trip this past weekend through Charleston, SC, Athens and Madison, GA and Raleigh, NC. Charleston started out really weird - it wasn't a "show" bar so much and we were asked to play for 2.5 hours, which is a frickin' eternity for us. Hardly anyone paid anyone attention for the first hour and a half we were up there, and then around midnight everyone magically hit optimum drunkeness and the whole roof came off the place, which was pretty packed out by then. We were running on fumes and playing some songs for the second time and random people would clamber on stage and want Rod to say something about their friend's birthday, or someone's engagement or want to play piano on one of the songs...it was a mess, but it was strangely beautiful. Unfortunately we completely blew ourselves up playing that long and paid for it the rest of the weekend...we're sprinters, not marathon runners. Oh well...Charleston is a beautiful-ass town.
I spent Saturday night sleeping under the stars in Georgia in a hammock and a sleeping bag, looking at the Milky Way. I woke up Sunday in the shade.
I gots no complaints.
