I've recently picked up a book that I just can't put down. On the surface it seems like a romantic story featuring a love triangle between three childhood friends but it's SO MUCH MORE. The relationships between the characters are often complex and border on ironic-- to love and be loved are so much harder than most authors make it out to be. But really, it's about the main character's journey to enlightenment but not in that religious way like ancient Chinese texts such as Journey to the West. It's more of an enlightenment of self. He's not sure where exactly he fits in, not with his friends, not in the world. Although on the surface he seems like a put together individual he's awkward with relationships and sex is this why I relate to him so much??

I can't imagine why this was in the 45% off bin at the bookstore. It's so obviously underrated.
