Inconsistencies.

 I'm sure I've mentioned this before, because it's an inconsistency I think about a lot, but  it's worth noting again. Jim Harrison once said that the bathroom was the only place where you were really in control of your life. Well, the bathroom may make us god for a while, at least until some dude comes knocking on the door, kicking us out of paradise. Seriously, though, I do for some reason have a combination of my most profound thoughts and retarded actions while using said room. Btw, who wrote that novella?

As for golf tournaments, they actually can live up to their name. A nice mis-shot ball can help us charitably remove certain undesirable elements of society, all while receiving a polite clap of applause.

Well, all religions have their inconsistencies. Perhaps this is the author's subtle way of having you examine the deeper issues inherent in bathroom morality. Perhaps he's saying no one has control of their life anywhere. Maybe the man who died in the bathroom really wanted to die, so he chose that room to be the place where he would meet his demise. Or maybe bathroom murders are just a cool plot device, and to hell with consistency.
