I'm not sure if anyone still is subscribed to my livejournal, but I wanted to say a few words about my friend Chris "Mike" Sharp, aka Sharpy. I don't really know how I met Sharpy, or how we became friends, all I do remember is that we sat next to each other for all of U.S. History, everytime we had to change seats we made it so we sat togather with a little creative engineering. We even worked on all of our projects together. Our powerpoint presentation on women's rights in the 60's and 70's was probably the best ever. He was really the only person that talked to me in that class, and we usually got in trouble for that.
Sharpy was co-president of the Astronomy club with me and however many other people were, and was an avid chess player in the free time during Calculus class. He was also in both years of my Physics class. All in all he was a great kid, always had a smile on his face and could make me laugh. He was never afraid to speak his mind which I'm sure put some people at ends with him but I never recall him being caught up in any drama that you would normally find in high school. Sharpy was more mature than I think some people gave him credit for. I know that my last two years of high school just wouldn't have been the same without him. I can say it was an honour to have known him, to be called and to call him "Mr. President", to play chess and copy physics assignments from him, and to have discussions about the differences between the TI-86 and the TI-89 calculator. And I know that for the rest of my life, whenever I see the most annoying power point transition possible, I will think of him and those days in U.S. History together.
Farewell Sharpy, or Mr. President, I hope that you are in a better place now. You are missed.
