Some of the moments (this is a relative term) that I hope to never forget during my years in Berkeley (a partial list. . . more to come)
- First day on my own, in the rain, looking for where my classes would be on Monday.
- Poetry reading with one of my poetic hero Lawrence Ferlinghetti. . . it was EXACTLY how I had envisioned Berkeley would be, but alas, it came too late. (it's podcasted, btw)
- Three weeks in China with Grad students and my mentor Patricia Berger.
- The hectic weekend going to AZ for Howard Dean. . .
- Attending and meeting Juan Diego Florez after his debut at the SF Opera in La Cenerentola.
- All the times I sat next to the Strawberry Creek, reading my little pink Wordsworth Anthology, listening to my Mozart opera/concerto, sipping hot green tea from my flask, and writing down in my journal random thoughts and verses. . .
Things I tell people I've done in Berkeley but I actually have not. . . (but desperately wish to be there, a complete list)
- Being in Tim White's class
- Attending a Baryshnikov performance
- Attending a Mark Morris performance
- Being at SF City Hall three years ago when marriage licenses were issued to same-sex couples
