I took my book out on the stoop to read and try to dry up this cold that's plaguing me, and I saw the most amazing sight: three teenaged Latina girls, trussed up in summer clothes, shorts and tube tops and flip flops with winter-pale skin, walking side by side down the walk in perfect step with one another, like they were marching, like little Nazis goosestepping down the street, six flip flops slapping the pavement with one common sound. Heil, Summer!
