..COLD AND WINDY CONDITIONS TODAY AND TONIGHT...
A STRONG COLD FRONT MOVED THROUGH THE SOUTHERN APPALACHIAN REGION
THIS MORNING. BEHIND THE FRONT...NORTHWEST WINDS WILL BE SUSTAINED
BETWEEN 15 AND 30 MPH...WITH GUSTS AS HIGH AS 40 MPH. TEMPERATURES
WILL BE FALLING THROUGH THE DAY AS COLD HIGH PRESSURE BUILDS OVER
THE REGION.
TONIGHT...WINDS WILL INCREASE EVEN HIGHER IN THE MOUNTAINS OF EAST
TENNESSEE AND SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA. SUSTAINED WINDS BETWEEN 25 AND
35 MPH ARE EXPECTED...WITH GUSTS UP TO 50 MPH POSSIBLE. THE WINDY
CONDITIONS...COMBINED WITH TEMPERATURES IN THE TEENS AND SINGLE
DIGITS...COULD RESULT IN WIND CHILL VALUES BETWEEN -10 AND -20
DEGREES IN THE MOUNTAINS.
