Gay Marriage--IMO
Im going to take a break from my fan fiction version of AMC and hopefully have a real discussion about gay marriage.
I dont believe in marriage as an entity at all. Some may call med cynical, some will say Im weird but to me marriage is over rated. What pisses me off is that the gay people who want to get married cant because of the instution of marriage, Yea straight people have done so well with that. Til death do us part or I find someone better should be the vows.
As for the religious right saying its against God, well technically then marriage is against the constitution on many ways. First there is the pursuit of happiness, which the reliogous right seems to think is fine as long as you dont do anything they disagree with. Secondly and to me most importantly there is the seperation of church and state. I feel marriage as it is needs to be dissolved and made into civil unions for everyone, seperate but equal was shot down in brown vs the board of education. If the church wants to have marriage then let them decide who can have the term marriage.
As far as Im concerned when Im with someone I dont need a piece of paper telling me that Im committed to them, I either am or Im not, period.
So instead of fighting for marriage lets fight against it!!! Straight and gay people would all be much happier if they did.
