Completely unrelated to anything

I'm not sure what I dislike more as an intro post to the Nexus: the infamous "Where am I?" or the irritating "Where's *Character From My Canon To Whom I Am Closely Attached*?" I can understand them both being in-character, but they're terrible for interaction.

The first, once it's been answered once, loses most of its point. (And, from a personal POV, Simmons is not graciously inclined enough to answer it.) The second, you get one of two options: the character in question actually answers, in which case, what's the point of anybody else answering; or the character in question is not in play and characters not from the canon are just like, "Nope, never heard of 'em," (And, sometimes, "Here, let me explain the Nexus to you while I'm here.") while characters that are from the canon are just like, "Nope, haven't seen them." There's just not really a point to it, y'know? (And, again, Simmons is not graciously inclined enough to answer these.) And, y'know, maybe it's just me, but there seems to be something awfully... I-just-want-to-play-within-my-own-canon-cliquishness to the second question.

That is not to say there can't be merit to questions of "Where am I?" or "Has anybody seen X?", but, ideally, I think that there should be something added to it.

Then again, Shel's intro question was basically, "I've been dead for a while: what do I do now? And, BTW, has anybody seen my brother who matches this handy description?" Which is awfully close to "Where am I?" and "Where's X?" combined. (Simmons's intro question, as an aside, was "'will I get in trouble if I ask 'how much wood could a woodchuck chuck?'" I am the least creative question-asker ever.)

Actually, though, that's another thing I hate about "Where's X?" questions. Nobody ever seems to bother describing X when they ask it. We're just supposed to recognize X by name. Reeeeedonkulous. Even if I, the mun, may be familiar with the pup's canon (and at least half the time I'm not), my pup probably doesn't (unless the pup in question is from, like, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy or Desperate Housewives or something). It's just very silly.

I dunno, guys, your thoughts?

simmons, pups, my opinions are totally important rite?, things that bother me, dear_multiverse, shel
