Sooooo, once upon a time, I was pretty big into dolling. Which, in layman's terms, is when one takes a pixelled image of a bald naked human (a base) and pixel on hair and clothes yourself. Baaaasicallyyyy, it's like a dollmaker where you make all the hair and clothes yourself. (If you want to know more, you can always take a look at the
Wikipedia article, although that combines drag-and-drop dollmakers and pixelled dolls into one category of sorts.) I was never too terribly good at it, personally, but every once in a while, I'll feel nostalgic and make a doll for the hell of it. (I made
this icon for Shel the last time I got hit with it.)
So, yesterday, Matt was all talking about pixelling stuff for his characters in his journal, so some dolling on my part was pretty much inevitable.
Kawaii Hannah's Dandylily base has always been a particular favorite of mine. So it's no surprise that that's the base I ended up going with for this particular run of nostalgia.
So, in order, of course: helmeted Simmons, Simmons pre-cyborgification, Simmons post-cyborgification (there's something somewhat terrible about the fact that this is the first image of cyborg'd Simmons I've put out there), helmeted Grif, Simmons's Grif pre-tank-damage, Simmons's Grif post-tank-damage, and memento_eden Grif. Whose PB does not have a consistent haircut, which was considerably less annoying two days ago, lemme tell you.
Fun fact! The top of the helmets? Exactly 2 pixels above the top of the heads. :B
A repeat of
this post may very well be coming. >.>
