Blargh. I have been kind of in a rut recently (I think it's because I'm not getting out of the house enough, seeing as I am currently unemployed, but I'm working on that, and I suspect my increasingly bad insomnia isn't helping matters, either), so I am going to do some self-evaluation in hopes that examining my strengths and weaknesses and the like will help me get back on track. And I like talking about myself so sue me.
Sgt./Minor Junior Private -1st Class Dexter Grif (
semper_fi_bitch/
been_sarged)
My Strengths: Grif is, and I suspect forever will be, my strongest character. I don't really foresee myself ever dropping him without just dropping completely. He's fun to play, he's got good CR, and he gets me lots of delicious, delicious attention is a constant staple of my cast list.
My Weaknesses: I feel like his voice has been slipping a little lately. Like, I'll write a tag and I'll just be able to feel that something is off about it, but I can't tell what and it bothers the shit out of me. I mean, it's Grif and me, so it's still a pretty solid voice, it's just, like, stale-bread-solid right now instead of the usual rock-solid--most definitely not soft, but it might fall apart if you hit it too hard. I think it's the new-canon-less dry spell that caused it. Reconstruction was still running when I picked him up, and even when it ended, I rewatched it a few times when I got the DVD and the like, and then there was Relocated, and then after that, pretty much nothing. But that will be changing very shortly, so hopefully that will help. I also rewatched Reconstruction for Wash's sake recently, and I think that helped Grif a little, but Grif admittedly does not do terribly much in Recon and what he does do is generally atypically proactive. Which is awesome, but generally unhelpful for the day-to-day play. About the only time Grif is serious business in ME is when he's riding the patrolmen's collective asses about their inability to catch murderers, which he hasn't done since, like, Maya's drop, now that I think about it.
Also not entirely sure that the parrots are as great an idea as I think they are. I guess this is the problem with letting impulsive characters be as impulsive as they want and just playing it by ear. There have been a lot of times where I've just ended up going "OK fuck wait now what?" This is kind of one of those times. He's gonna keep them for a while, at least, if only because they annoy Danny and he's pretty on-board for annoying Danny right now. The novelty'll probably wear off after a while and I'm not sure what he'll end up doing then. But maybe they'll have caught his cursing habit by then, idk. I don't even know if ME's pet shop takes returns, come to think of it. On the other hand, the parrots'll never suddenly disappear on him, which is more than he can say for a constantly increasing amount of people he knows. I'm not sure he's quite that starved for companionship, but it'd probably be nice to have a constant. They'd also likely raise a racket if somebody were to, say, try and break into his room in the middle of the night to try and murder him (again), which is something to keep in mind.
idk, this is an issue I'd like some input on. (PARROTS ARE SERIOUS BUSINESS.)
Short-Term Plans: At Netherworld, there's the Noir Event, and for Grif I think I'm going to go with The Vaguely Shady Informer. (Accuracy of Information not guaranteed.) At ME, Folded's apping Tex, so I guess I should get around to having Grif remember her. But I think that can wait until after Tex shows up, just so that when she shows up, Grif can be like "I have no fucking clue what black means," and then later be like "oh fuck that's what black means. D:"
The Long Haul: I've decided exactly what will happen when BF eventually drops Simmons like he's said he will. It makes me feel better to have a plan. I mean, that won't stop me from sending an assassin to his house when he does it, but that's just busine--I mean what.
Michael Jon Carter/Booster Gold (
future_is_gold)
My Strengths: My Booster voice remains solid, as does my incredible wealth of Booster knowledge. He's made a number of incredibly needless purchases, to the point where he's been in Memento Eden for like 6 months and is kind of low on money. I think I've gotten a bit better about having him tag around a socialize more.
My Weaknesses: He still doesn't socialize as much as he should. He should probably attention whore a bit more, too, but then again, before he didn't really have much to attention whore about, but now he remembers his football career, which is something to be proud of and seek attention for.
Short-Term Plans: I intend to tag around more on the beach log. He'll also probably organize a football game once that dies down. And show off relentlessly in said football game. His next memory regains will involve the disastrous end of his football career, which will be his first major angstfest, but not the last. I am looking forward to it. |3 He also needs to teach Ginko how to play pool.
The Long Haul: It sure is taking him a long time to get to remembering that "superhero" thing, isn't it? :V
Miles Edgeworth (
halberdvshield)
My Strengths: I feel really good about my Edgeworth voice. I've got a good feel for what makes him tick and his manner of speaking, and I really enjoy playing him. I've got a feeling Edgeworth'll be sticking around for quite a while. Something I really like about my Edgeworth is that I'm not afraid to have him fuck up and look kind of silly from time to time. I mean, Psycho-Locks, come on.
My Weaknesses: The oh-so-common criticism of "needs to comment around more". Of course, unlike Booster, this isn't so much a failing of mine so much as it is that Edgeworth's just plain anti-social. What he has been doing is making a number of entries and will be increasingly commenting on entries by people who comment to him. Socialization is a lot of give-and-take with Edgey.
Short-Term Plans: As soon as Yuri comments back to me, Edgeworth'll make a post about, well, a lot of things. He's gotten a job, and moved into the Memoria apartments, and he's remembered two key things--that his dad was a defense attorney and, in his eyes, the bee's knees, and about half of his first case as a prosecutor--and what the shit that is confusing. Franziska's informed him that he was adopted later, which kind of helps but not really.
The Long Haul: I want to refrain from spending too much of Edgeworth's memories before I can get my hands on Ace Attorney Investigations, since that'll add to his memory-load. He'll likely take up prosecuting in ME once he remembers a bit more. Specifically, exactly why he took up prosecution instead of defense. By the time he gets that memory, he'll probably have studied enough of the court system in ME that he can participate in it.
Agent Washington (
memoryisthekey)
My Strengths: Wash is as he always is. Very serious in a way that's really fun to bounce off of the wacky antics of the Netherworld setting. I, uh, actually lost his voice recently, but it seems to have returned with the rewatch of Reconstruction, which is good. I wouldn't want to drop Wash.
My Weaknesses: Aaaaaaaacctiiiiviiiiiiityyyyyyyyyy. But, again, now that I've canon reviewed and gotten the voice back, that should hopefully solve that problem. There's also the cause of the lost voice, I think, which was probably that the futility of Wash's :| against NW's unrelenting insanity does wear a little thin after a while.
Short-Term Plans: I have an IC explanation for his absence and I actually purposefully let him get warned just because it would provide additional reason for his return. There's also the Noir Event right now, for which I am excited for Wash mostly because I will finally get an excuse to use those damn out-of-armor icons of his. With the exception of his sudden wardrobe change, he will be staying mostly the same for the event, because when I really thought about it, he was pretty damn similar to your standard Noir Anti-Hero already. :V He's just from an incredibly non-noir setting.
The Long Haul: I think after the event finishes I will go back to pestering the Dark Assembly into a more desirable housing situation.
Guy Gardner (
one_punched)
My Strengths: Guy is so much fun to play. Like, every time I drop someone and go "ugh, I shouldn't've started playing them on a whim like that" I remember that the characters I enjoy playing the most, like Guy and Wash, are characters I decided to play on a whim. Anyway, I feel like I've got a pretty good handle on Guy and he's another one of those characters I can't see myself dropping as long as I'm in the game.
My Weaknesses: More of a general Mayfield thing than a Guy thing specifically is my activity. More specifically I hate intro posts and almost never tag them, and Mayfield was very recently almost nothing but intro posts, so. Now that there's the milk 'n' the app flood has died down, I will hopefully manage to get back into the swing on things there. More specific to Guy, I don't think he's gotten brainwashed enough.
Short-Term Plans: Next regain, Guy will be getting his Power Battery back for realz this time, which will be fun. Sam has mentioned intent to app either Hal Jordan or Kyle Rayner which will be fun! ...Actually, wait, HEY SAM. Have you decided which one yet? Because now that I think about it, I want Kyle-Relm interaction. They can draw together. It would be cute.
The Long Haul: Guy needs moar La Resistance in his life.
PFC Dick Simmons (
sycophanticdick)
My Strengths: I've had sycophanticdick for over a year now. Points for persistence, if nothing else. Like all my assholes, he is pretty fun to play.
My Weaknesses: Same activity issue as Guy, maybe even a little worse. Like the rest of the RvB guys, I do think the voice has been slipping and rewatching Reconstruction didn't help for him, considering that he does even less than Grif in it. :V But again, new RvB is starting, so hopefully that will help. I should also get around to rewatching BGC seasons 4 and 5 sometime, since those are good seasons for Simmons and Grif.
Short-Term Plans: Fuck I don't even know. I guess I should, uh, claim his regain that would be a good idea derp.
The Long Haul: Needs moar sucking up to the Powers That Be at Mayfield.
In General
-Need to get off my ass and finish Adrian's personality section for Mayfield. Figuring out exactly how much of her personality was faked in the 2nd game is hard. :<
-Need to app someone who isn't an RvB character to NW.
-Need to get over the sudden allergy I've seemed to have developed to logs. 3rd-person prose is not as big of a deal as I seem to make it sometimes.
-Think about a second for Kingdoms once I app Jacky? I love the girl, but she's hardly an important, involved character. :V
Derp derp any thoughts, guys? Besides how I am very clearly thinking too hard about my Pretendy Funtime Games in general, apparently.
