Who is your favorite PB and why? Eh, I don't think I really have a favorite PB for what few characters I have with 'em. I'm not sure I'm good enough at picking PBs for that. :V I like Tex's set well enough, but that could very well change once I start actually playing with her.
Do you have a least favorite PB? John Cusack was really just a bad call on my part, I think.
Is there anyone you don’t use a PB for? Why? Fffff, just about anybody I don't have to use one for. PB finding is a pain in the ass. I suppose I'll cop to deliberately not getting a PB for the Director (untilitisnomore) because he's a disembodied voice and I rather wanted him to stay that way in one sense or another. (And, OK, yes, also I have a pretty clear mental image of him that I'm pretty sure I could never find a PB for.) Also using all blue text icons for him was too good to pass up. |3
Who was the hardest to pick a PB for? I'm inclined to say Grif, because, well, first and foremost, I wanted a chubby Hawaiian, and, well. You may note that Grif's PB is, in fact, a Danish skateboarder, which is probably not as opposite of chubby Hawaiian as it could be, is still pretty off the mark. So after I came to terms with the fact that I wasn't going to find a Hawaiian guy, much less a chubby one, I decided I wanted Some Guy, because, well, Grif is, basically, just Some Guy. And then the problem became finding icon makers that iconned Some Guys. And then I found haggardassicons. And it was good. Probably still could've stood to use a better choice for Grif, but eh. I am somewhat attached to Rune Glifberg now.
Not a PB, but Tsubaki was kind of a bitch and a half to find icons for because she's so rarely iconned compared to a lot of the rest of the cast. When she was gifted with a paid, I just went "fuck it" and downloaded some screencaps and went to town making my own.
Who has your favorite icons? Possibly Wash, because I don't think I've ever been left looking at my icon choices and going 'I don't have the perfect expression for this,' but that could very well be that Wash just doesn't have a large enough emotional range to need more than, like, 4 or 5 head postions to get everything across, y'know? Especially in NW. I'm not even entirely sure why I bothered finding a PB for him when there's pretty much no way in hell he'd ever take his armor off in such a constantly openly hostile environment. But I guess it's good to have them just in case. Not like I'd use the slots for anything else. Hell, he's still got an open slot as-is.
I am incredibly fond of Simmons's impressive collection of text icons, though. And the Director's icons, as previously mentioned.
Who has the worst icons? Eh, I guess, honestly, probably Grif.
Do you decide to rp characters and then go PB hunting, or do you create characters based off a desire to use a certain PB? Oh, God, definitely character first. Hate hate hate PB finding.
Have you ever changed a character’s PB midway through playing them? Not through playing them, no. Though I will admit I will change Simmons's PB if I ever pick him up again. But that is different. If I was going to change one while I was playing them, it might be Grif, but I'd have to find a PB that works pretty damn well before I did that.
Then again, maybe switching Simmons's armored icons from Halo 2 to Halo 3 kind of counts. :V
Seriously though how annoying is it to have to do that? Simmons's armor icons weren't that bad, but that's mostly because the two sets were fairly similar, except for how Halo 3 was waaaaaaay better quality. Though sadly also much more pinkish in hue. But, yeah, I think changing a face in the middle of playing somebody would be pretty goddamn obnoxious, which is why something damn near perfect would pretty much have to just fall into my lap before I did it to Grif.
Do you make your own icons? Almost all of the non-PB ones. Because the characters I play are much too rarely played for a lot of people to have iconned them. Well. Comic iconning types have certainly iconned Booster, but those tend to be costumed icons, and I am playing him sans costume, so.
Have you ever had to Photoshop aspects of a character’s look onto icons? (Hair color, scars, etc) I. Oh, man, this is kind of the dumbest thing, but, uh, John Cusack wears a lot of blue? And that clearly wouldn't work for Simmons? So I totally 'shopped a bunch of icons of Cusack icons into having red shirts instead of blue ones. :V I never even used most of them. I also 'shopped a regular green SPARTAN/Master Chief into Simmons a few times, with varying degrees of success.
Do you like using popular PBs? That's never really something I consider, honestly. PBs don't tend to be that common in my games, so it's not like there's much of a chance for overlap....
If you know a PB is used by other people “around town”, does it make you less likely to use them, even if they’re perfect? If somebody is already using a certain PB in one of my games, then, yeah, I probably won't use them. It would be too confusing otherwise, y'know?
Have you ever felt territorial or protective over a PB? Nnnnot really, I don't think, but I've never really seen any PB overlap between me and other people. I'll admit I might have a >_o moment if I saw somebody else using, like, Rune Glifberg, but I don't think I'd be territorial or protective over it. (I will admit that it is occasionally disorienting to see icons I've made for my use in use on other accounts, though. I still sometimes have moments of "whoa wait what" seeing my icons on BF's Simmons. It's like I'm tagging myself as a different person. Only, y'know, not.)
Are there any PBs you are seriously sick to death of seeing? No, but I don't see PBs used all that often.
