one of the best movie lines ever...

"great. i have a trig midterm tomorrow and i'm being chased by Guido the killer pimp."

so i got back from montana on wednesday, and i can't even begin to tell you how badly i did not want to come home. i had the best time being up there. it made me realize just how much i still care for darren, and how much i don't like big cities. hahaha!

The night i got there: we went back to the house on the ranch and i got settled in. he asked me the night before i got there if i liked wine and what kind. i told him one of my fave kinds was white zinfandel and when i got there, he had two bottles of it in the fridge. so we had a few glasses. then it was the two of us with pizza and beer and a movie. good times. yes. i slept in my own room.

Day one: darren went out to work, i got to sleep for a couple more hours. he came home around 2pm and had the rest of the day off. we watched tv for a while before he told me to go change into some old jeans cuz he was taking me on a tour of the property on his quadbike. no shit, we got covered with mud. it was so much fun! finally went back to the house and got cleaned up. (separate showers guys, geez.) drove into town and he drove me around great falls, showing me the town, then we met up with his parents at their house. oh my god, they were happy to see me. his dad even noticed that my hair had gotten longer (i met them back in april for like 10 minutes). like whoa! so they took darren and i to dinner at a really nice restaurant called jaker's. after dinner, we went back to his parents house for a while. darren called his two buddies and they came over a little later. we all went downstairs and played pool for a couple hours. when we all left, darren's mom called me sweetheart and said to be sure i come back up to visit again soon, and his dad gave me a hug. darren and i went back out to the ranch and decided it was a drinking kind of night. two doubleshots of peppermint schnapps, several glasses of wine, and a few beers later, we were chillin on the couch watching a movie. then he leaned back as if to go to stand up, but instead he shifted and turned towards me and said well shit, i'm gonna kiss you. then he grabbed me and kissed me. yes i know, wow. i was like, well ok then. he asked me if i remembered making out in the rain back in vancouver, and i said duh. so he asked me if i'd ever kissed under a sky full of stars. i told him he was crazy, we dont get skies like that in the city. so he said well let's go! i laughed a little and he said oh you think i'm joking. i said no, just let me get some shoes on. needless to say, we were outside for almost a half hour. that night, i did not stay in my room. we were in his room, and we just layed there talking forever, and he kissed me several more times. he had his arm over me, holding my hand. it was basically as if we were still together at school, cuz we didn't act any different. yes, we were both clothed, gosh!

Day two: we woke the next morning at like, 5 or 6 cuz the phone in his room rang. he hung up the phone and rolled back over towards me, put his arm back over me and we went back to sleep for a couple hours. i got up at 9.30, and he came home at 11 cuz he didnt have much to do that day except head back up to feed the cows at 1.00pm. he said when he finally got up that morning, his eyes were still half shut, and he couldn't see me. so he was like, where'd she go? and when he woke up a little more and saw i was still there, he was relieved cuz he'd thought i'd went back to my room again. so he went back up to feed the cows and came back a half hour later. he told me he didn't like me sitting in the house alone and i should come up and hang out with him. so of course i went, and while he took care of the feeding, i got to play with the horses and the dogs and relax. if only there had been a big pile of hay nearby, i'd have started a fight. hehehe. so we went back to the house after he was done and got cleaned up. we hung around the house for a while before heading over to his neighbor's house to chat for a while. then we went to this really small town called Belt. and he took me to dinner at this western bar and restaurant called the Harvest Moon. we ended up talking with these two older cowboys all through dinner and for a while afterward. when we left, i told him that kind of thing doesn't happen in bigger cities. especially in portland cuz people are afraid they'll get shot. it was awesome to just meet someone and start talking like that. he said that people there were always real cool and friendly like that. grr, that's just not fair. so we drove into great falls, and went night bowling. one of his friends that we'd hung out with the night before met us there. darren and i snuck some beers in, so it turned into drunk night bowling, which i've decided i need more practice at. cuz one of the shots i took went straight to the gutter, and when i turned around laughing and making jokes about it, he walked up and said it's ok, i still love you, and he pulled a rose from behind his back and gave it to me. he had bought me a rose while my back was turned. it was surrounded with some daisies, baby's breath, and a couple ferns. it's absolutely beautiful. i smiled and said thank you, and gave him a big hug. so we finished bowling and went back to his parents house to stay the night since it was closer to the airport. we played a few games of drunk pool, and when we went to bed, he gave me a hug and a big kiss, and we each went to our own room downstairs and crashed.

The morning that i left: we woke up around 5 and got ready. we left about 5.30 cuz my flight was at 7.30am. when he dropped me off he said i was more than welcome to come visit again if i wanted. he said he was happy i was able to come visit, which he said repeatedly thru the weekend, and gave me a hug. it was really windy, so my hair was in my face. he brushed it back and gave me one more big kiss. he told me to give him a call when i got home so he'd know i got back safely, but i said he was gonna be busy when i got home. so he said to call him sometime soon so he'd know i was alive. i can't say how much i didn't want to get on the plane, half of me was seriously tempted to turn around and hop the bus back out and stay there, at least for a while longer.

during my time there, i met his two closest friends, his parents (again, but for longer this time), his neighbor, one of his friends' girlfriend, and even one of his dad's friends. each time i met someone, he said this is shelby, and they all had this tone of oooohhh, oookaaaayy. he told me he had talked about me a lot to people, but dang! except when i met his dad's friend, that's when he said this is my friend shelby. friend? huh? then the next night, one of his other friends called and he said he had a good friend up visiting. ummm. and when playing pool with his buddies, he said one of them was bringing his new girlfriend, and said he and his other friend that was coming over were the two single guys. but except for those three statements, the rest of the weekend was totally opposite. confused? yeah, so am i. cuz he also repeatedly mentioned thru the weekend my moving to montana. my first night there, i told him about this pilot that comes thru denver regularly that calls me "montana" all the time just cuz i worked one of the bozeman/billlings flights he was flying. and darren said see, it's a sign that you belong here in montana. so grrrrrrrr!!!!! i don't know what's going on with him, but i do know that i need to talk to him and tell him everything. if he was able to call me after 8 months and spend 2 and a half hours telling me how he still feels, then there's no reason i shouldn't be able to tell him after 8 weeks. he told me that "he had a feeling i was gonna get up there and fall in love, and i was not gonna wanna leave." i told him when i left that he was right, i did not want to leave. but he has no idea yet how right he actually was.
