Idiocracy

Hey you primitive screwheads, listen up. If you currently live in Austin, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, LA, Chicago, or Toronto, you have a movie you need to go see. It's called Idiocracy and it seems to remind me of Futurama, only done by Mike Judge, the guy who did the movie Office Space (as well as Beavis and Butthead and King of the Hill).

Guy gets frozen, wakes up 500 years later, only to see that the world got itself damned stupid because all of the mouth-breathers had a ton of kids and the smart people tended to breed themselves out by not having as many kids.

If you've never heard of it, join the club. FOX screwed over Mike Judge...again. Remember how poorly Office Space did in the theatres and then later became a cult classic? Yeah, that was because FOX released the movie with absolutely zero publicity on it. The exact same thing is happening with this movie. It opened this past weekend and I'm willing to bet none of you have ever heard of it.

So......how'd I find out about it? Well, being the computer nerd that I am, I found it on TotalFARK, who linked it from Ain't It Cool News. Currently it's only in limited release in these seven cities. And considering how little fanfare and advertising revenue went into its opening weekend (virtually none, from what I've seen), you might want to see this in the theatres while you have a chance.

I guess I'll wait until next weekend to see Little Miss Sunshine.

EDIT: Okay, now that I've seen the movie, here's what I think. I thought it was a pretty funny movie, although I bet it'd be a lot funnier watching it with other people, kind of like Monty Python or Snakes on a Plane. That said, I'd still recommend it. There is a LOT in the details and backgrounds of this movie that you aren't going to see on first watching (much like a Naked Gun movie). For now, if you go see it, a few things to look for to get you started. First, look at the Presidential Seal. Second, wait until the credits finish rolling to see an additional scene.
