ok, I'm new here...I just finished reading the entire HG manga series & also that of the HG S novel yesterday. Although the manga series wasn't that great (I would not spend money on this particular shojo crap) it sure was a page-turner and it was rather addicting. The concept is fresh, the whole be-my-slave-or I'll blackmail u- thing you just see really in shojo manga..except with some similar aspects to Hana Yori Dango.
I was ok with the main pairing Ryoki X Hatsumi at the end of the HG manga and I justify this by a scene earlier in the manga when Ryoki's maid, Mariko asked Hatsumi to never leave Ryoki because he's emotionally stunted, alone, never known having a family feels like. I think Hatsumi really considered that request(and took it to <3) and how Hatsumi says she can't fight her feelings for Ryoki and some other instances. I agree Ryoki is a major douche to Hatsumi throughout the manga.
But what made me angry in the manga is that it was a semi-major character: Shinogu Narita (whom all our hearts go out to). Its lame that just because he can't get Hatsumi and says he can't get over it, he had to turn to religion and be a monk.
It was also on this really sucky ending plot detail, that the novelist whom is the author of Hot Gimmick S novel, got pissed about and did something about it by providing an alternative ending with Shinogu X Hatsumi. Quite F&&*XXing obvious she was a Shinogu/Hatsumi fan. The novelist tried to hard to give depth to the story that it was just over the top, but the plot she used to make Hatsumi end up with Shinogu was realistic, but too rushed..it did not flow nicely,,, the story dynamics and pace of the story seemed force. I could in short say that I DESPISE with a passion the alternative ending in the HG S Novel< that was 2-3 hours of my life I can't get back, I should have stuck with the manga ending and not even bother with reading the novel.
Stupid me thought hey maybe Shinogu will get the happiness and not become a monk because he found love in Asahi Yagi. Thats right I ship HG's non-canon pairing: Shinogu X Asahi. I agree the whole Subaru X Akane is cute ( I <3 it when otakus find <3, but I dont care about this pairing much. My <3 goes all out to Shinogu X Asahi ever sinced the Asahi-character was introduced the manga, I just knew Shingou had to be with her, although::sighs:: didn't turn out that way. I prayed the novelist of HG S will address this issue, but she F&&*ing brushed it off didn't even consider the possibility and brought in this other bitchy female character as Shinogu's potential.
