So. Just a quick update. Or not, see how it goes!
I moved about two weeks ago, quite like it here. Mainly due to the internet, but that's another matter! Also it's not incredibly hot here like it was in my room at Stamford Street so that's another definite bonus. Plus - double bed for the first time ever. Whoo! :p
Got my degree results Friday - got a 2:1. Which I have mixed feelings about. Basically I don't really think I deserve that, and think I got it for one of two reasons, either because of my brother or to make Kings look good. Possibly a combination of the two. So while I'm relieved and kinda pleased I also can't feel proud about it. If I'd got it on merit that'd be great, but I really don't think I did. Although Monteverdi essay *did* actually get marked in the end, which helped. If I'd got a good mark for my disseration I'd probably feel better about it. Still, the two modules I took in my last term got me two of my best results I think. Certainly my best since Christmas of 2nd year, so I guess that's good.
Anyway, I just think it sucks a bit that some people worked a lot harder than I did, and the quality of their work was generally higher, yet we ended up with the same mark. Noone in our year got lower than a 2:1, and about 10 people got 1sts. So it was a particularly high marked year. I just don't feel *I* deserve it. Maybe I'm being too hard on myself though.
Anyway, apart from that, Colorado Avalanche have signed two really good players over the last couple of days, Ryan Smyth and Scott Hannan, and I'm really excited about that :) Just can't wait til October for the season to start again now!
I have a huge cut on my thumb and no idea where it came from. I just noticed the blood dripping down, took me a while to work out where it was coming from! It's mostly healed up now but it's kinda painful. And particularly random.
Oh, I know! Big, important, exciting news! Hopefully I'm going to do a pharmacy degree. Which is a 4 year course, and I'm not too thrilled at the prospect of another 4 years at uni, but I didn't really get the chance to enjoy this one apart from the first and last terms, and even then the last term was pretty stressful obviously! Really though, I just want a decent job, medical profession = good and admin = boring, teaching, well, there's no way really! The only job I'd be interested in related to music is musical directing and really I think it's far too stressful because I don't have much confidence in myself with that. Add in the fact my piano skills aren't up to it and I'd really miss being able to go and *see* shows and I think I'd rather leave it as a hobby. I want to be a hospital pharmacist, which involves a lot more patient contact and less counting out drugs, and hopefully I'll be able to specialise, although I'm not sure what in. I should have done a pharmacy degree in the first place, and I almost did. If only Kings hadn't looked so appealing for a music degree I would have done! Seriously, at one point I considered applying to Kings for music and everywhere else for either straight chem or pharmacy, but decided my personal statement would be too hard to write :p
I shall stop rambling now. Honest. *cough*
Oh, one more thing, the president (from this year) of Kings Musical Theatre forgot to book the theatre so we could perform the shows next year. Idiot. This means that we're doing it really early, in November, and we're going to have about 5/6 weeks to rehearse. That is going to be really tight, but I'm still looking forward to it. In a way, it's better, because I get it out of the way and can then concentrate on other stuff like pharmacy! (Or, doing maths A level, which I'm hoping to do if there's no spaces for 2007 entry where I want to go.)
So, this wasn't too short. Well, didn't take that long to type I guess. I always have difficulty stopping typing on LJ! Or forums actually. But not in academic essays, darn it!
Ok, I lied, had something else to say. I am getting more American by the day in my speech. (seriously, I say 'math' half the time and 'semester' and use 'sick' rather than 'ill', and many more. I blame Liz :p) That reminds me actually, during said pharmacy degree hopefully I'll do Camp America, and take a semester abroad. Yay :)
PS BBC had to apologise for an explosion they had while filming for Torchwood in Cardiff last week, as it was a couple days after the car bomb in London, and apparently some people got really scared by it. In fairness they did try to warn as many people as possible beforehand. But still. Heh.
