Taban's workshop was a sprawl of cords, heavy machinery, scattered books and clusters of chemical vials. The glow from the machine in the corner subsided, the acrid smell of molten metal still in the air. Lucca lifted up the goggles clamped around her head, pushed her glasses back on and peered in through the tiny round viewport in the side.
"PERFECT! Oooh, I hope he likes it!" She stuffed her head into an enormous protective leather glove hanging conveniently nearby, popped open the door and gathered the small thing she'd just made. The thing, was a pendant, simply-made but the light-absorbing black stone and strong dark metal that comprised it upturned normal senses with quiet unnaturality. She rested it on a metal-on-wood workbench, yanked off the welding glove, and leaned over a stack of paper, speaking as she wrote.
"Fusion a success. Uncharged Moonstone alloy and Black Rock found in the Palace of Zeal made to form a large pendant with massive Fire and Shadow magic synergy potential. Ultimate limit of power relay unknown. Will require more testing before presenting to Dark."
She stood up, holding a hand over the pendant to check temperature, finding it cool already and picking it up. "Besides, there's no harm in seeing what it's capable of first."
