Breaking news! Serbia WON the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest! For those of you not in the know, Eurovision is sort of the European version of American Idol. It's a super kitschy event with pop stars from every country in Europe, and this year Serbia's Marija Šerifović won. It's all the more ironic because Serbia didn't even field a contestant last year because it was in the process of breaking up with Montenegro, and there was all sorts of intrigue with the Montenegrin judges being biased for the Montenegrin band and the Serbian judges being biased for the Serbian band. The winning country gets to host the Eurovision championships for next year, so next spring it'll be in Belgrade! I may have to get back there for that... As for the winning song, it's decent enough but not quite as entertaining as last year's winning song from Finland, entitled "Hard Rock Hallelujah," with such great lyrics as "on the day of ROCKening, thou shalt be saved" and references to "the aROCKalypse."
