LJ Idol Season 9 Week 34: "Lost the Plot"

Jan 21, 2015 17:38

Shannon and Shane are two average characters, from an average LJ Idol fiction piece.

Shannon has some insecurities, but she has the benefit of a quiet inner strength, taught to her by her robust, earthy mother. She loves reading, and has a small personal library, which fuels her long, engrossing conversations with a handful of cerebral friends. Her long, red hair and green eyes make her the object of interest, envy, and sometimes even scorn at her place of study or work. But she can hold no resentment even in the face of this adversity - as she is firm in her convictions but still endearingly, awkwardly personable.

Oh, and she is also a transcendental witch-fairy, with the ability to see beyond the heat-shimmer of illusion that constructs our corporeal world. She can step around and behind these human constructs of society and causality that others could but will not, as they are unable to see as she does. She keeps alive a humming tide of magic that thrums in her teeth and arcs between the guardian stars, but which is lost in much of the bustle of modern life.

Shane is a nondescript plank of a man with some vague yet growing misogynist tendencies.

One day they meet and fall in love. At first Shane is wonderful, and Shannon loves him with all her fragile, delicate heart, but well, as time goes on, he...

I don't even need to finish the story - you know exactly where this is going.

The odds of him striking her and then being set on fire by her mind are extremely high.
