One Direction Rare(r) Pair Gifting 2012/13
Hi people! It’s S and P, and we have a proposition!
We really wanted to join one of the fabulous holiday exchanges / bangs this year, but between school, work, and family, neither of us felt comfortable with a big commitment. We’ve also seen a lot of great fic propositions going around for rare or side pairings lately, that sadly aren’t being written as much as they are longed for. Like WHERE is the Louis/Greg James where Greg is deployed in Afghanistan and Louis is his faithful fiance back home and there are love letters?
Here’s our solution.
Comment on this post with a list of 5 fics you want for the holidays but are afraid maybe won’t be written because they’re one of the rare(r) pairings. They don’t have to be holiday themed! Put the pairing and/or prompt (this can be a word, phrase, lyric, link to a photo or a video, etc.) and/or rating in order from what you MOST WANT to what you STILL REALLY WANT BUT NOT QUITE AS URGENTLY. You do not have to have 5 requests, but please list at least 3, so that people have options in attempting to fulfill your wishes!
Example list:
1. Louis/Harry/Liam, fix-it fic after the iTunes Festival and Liam’s break up, PORN
2. Niall/Amy Green, anything I don’t care just give me the fic
3. Zayn/Danny Riach, drama prop room make outs
4. Zayn/Tom Daley, swimming lessons, fluff, porn, IDEC

Then check back on this post as people comment. The goal is that everyone who posts a list will “gift” one (or more) fic(s). Be willing to write at least one fic if you post a list! Seriously, getting a gift without giving one is kinda dickish. This means that the more people we get involved, the more fic happens! There is no minimum word limit (and no maximum), because the point is not to write a 25k novella, but instead to make sure everyone gets a little bit of what they’d like as a nice holiday surprise!
Once you write the “gift,” you can post it as a reply to the prompter’s list, on your personal journal (unlocked, so that anon recipients can enjoy!), on ao3, or on tumblr (if your journal is in a reading-friendly format. Just because you enjoy white text on light green wave-patterned backgrounds while a sparkly cursor floats around the screen sadly doesn’t assure that anyone else will). Just remember to comment back on the prompt comment with a link, if it’s hosted in another location! You have until January 15 (yes, this is an entirely arbitrary date, thanks for pointing it out) to post fic and until around January 5midnight tonight, January 14 (EST) to submit a list! The sooner you post your list, the longer your gifter has to write something awesome for you.
You can advertise this on Twitter, Tumblr, and your personal LJ. Or by good old fashioned word of mouth or IM, we guess. Whatever floats your boat. You can also use this handy dandy banner!

FAQ
- If this is a rare pair gifting, does that mean I can’t request Harry/Louis (Zayn/Liam)? No. Go for it. Just be prepared for people to possibly overlook it in favor of more unusual pairing requests.
- What ratings are allowed? Anything goes! From the fluffiest toddler fluff to, um, stuff that’d make Stoya blush. Seriously. (S: Is that possible?) (P: I’m not sure. Maybe someone will take it as a challenge!) Just be sure that you respect the prompt if it specifies, unless you negotiate otherwise with the prompter!
- What fandoms are allowed? It’s One Direction-centric. As long as at least one of the 1D boys is involved in the main pairing it’s cool! (So feel free to get your Union J / Radio 1 / American Popstars crossovers all up in here.)
- Is this for slash only? Nope! Any pairing works as long as at least one member of 1D is involved. This includes genderbend/rule 63 fic.
- Will the gifts be catalogued somewhere? We will add links to the filled prompts here as a masterlist of sorts as they are posted.
