Took that pic in the UP. I kind of love it, too.

This does a good job of showing Magua's anger, his resignation about the pursuit and his determination to keep going, and the desire for vengeance that still motivates him.

In the film, the actor gives such depth to the role, reveals subtly the grim drive behind the mask shown to the whites. That moment on the cliff is the pivotal one of the movie, and it makes me shiver every time, not only for Uncas and Chingachook, Nathan and Cora, but for Magua, as well - Alice's doe eyes, the knowledge of what she's choosing, and the way Magua realizes this, the stillness that falls over him.

This alternative is not better for him, because his scarred heart cannot heal.

his scarred heart cannot heal.

This story (or, previous versions of it) were impossible for me to finish, because I couldn't get past that. I...I want to say that that's not the only ending to the story, that some degree of hope yet remains.

But I couldn't get there, not the way I was doing it. *is very cranky*

Wes Studi is great, and has a much wider range (have you ever seen Mystery Men?) than I would have thought. I might have gone on at length about how he's my dream casting for the role of Forge in any X-Men movie.

I'm sorry you weren't able to tell the story you wanted to, but this is an excellent snapshot, nonetheless, very vivid and tense.

Thank you! Of all the attempts I made, I am most pleased with the Magua voice in this one.
