[ooc: I thought visiting between the equinoxes rather than the solstices would make more sense!]
[Hel had known Ullr for but a few years. For some springs now, he had assisted her in reaping winter’s dead before returning to Ydalir. She was grateful for the help during this especially taxing season. This year, however, everything had changed. The All-Father wished for Ullr to reside in Eljudner with her until winter’s return, and so this pattern would continue for the foreseeable future. Sending the Winter God away would allow the All-Father to strengthen the summer weather. Who would have thought he could feel threatened by one of his own? Niflhel had a tendency of collecting those who intimidated him. However there was no comparison to be made between Ullr and Hel, the All-Father was fond of him even though he was not a blood relative.
A part of Hel suspected he wanted to use Ullr as a spy within the walls of her palace. It was difficult to remain guarded when Ullr had proved himself an affable acquaintance. Hel could not help wondering what it would be like to share her dwellings for so long. The palace was large but only her servants, Ganglati and Ganglot stayed there with her. She imagined Ullr was not too enchanted with the situation either; the expanse of Yggdrasil would lie between him and his wife for half of every year. The arrangement was hardly fair on either of them; the least Hel could do was welcome him. She notices him enter her hall and strides across the room to greet him formally.]
Greetings Lord Ullr, I welcome you to Eljudner as my honoured guest. [She smiles faintly, inclining her head. The vernal equinox had only just begun, there was much work to be done but she would first see to his needs. It was just as well Garmr was at Gnipahellir, he was prone to misbehaving around strangers. The hound had been unusually reluctant to leave this time, as if he knew his mistress was expecting someone.] You have journeyed far this day, you must be weary.
