Chapter One
Filming the last few scenes for Glee’s first season officially ended a couple of days ago, their tour starts in a few weeks and the whole crew is busy in preparation.
They vacated their trailers some time earlier and the primary cast decided that it is for the good of their sanity if they all spent a few days apart before tour rehearsals start. That particular decision was made three days ago and now, Cory is stuck inside his old room, having flown back to Vancouver for a short visit. He went out for a few drinks with some of his pre-Glee friends and spent time with his family but outside of that, Cory is absolutely, honest-to-goodness, bored out of his mind. Normally, while on set, he’d spend his free hours goofing around with the guys or casually flirting with the female crew (he knows there are talks about him and Lea hooking up but in his mind that’d be like doing the nasty with a sister).
The few thousand miles apart shouldn’t be a big deal thanks to technology but apparently, the whole ‘spending time apart’ deal included sms, emails or phone calls. Cory figured that since Amber didn’t specifically state that random tweets are not allowed, he might as well try exchanging a couple of them with his co-stars. Alas, as luck would have it, twitter is down for site maintenance since early morning and if the notice was speaking true, will be out of commission for a couple more days. And okay, he might sound like a desperate teenage girl missing her girlfriends, but going from spending 16 hours a day to zero contact has made him desperate to get a hold of even one of them.
Looking morosely at the little blue bird on his laptop screen, Cory decided to try his luck with Google because, hey, if he can’t talk to them, at least he’d get an idea of what they are possibly doing right now and if they are as bored him. Checking the news section, he was disappointed to see that most articles are just reviews of the latest episode that aired or about the success of their Madonna tribute album. Clicking the web option, Cory found out that Lea apparently had a nip-slip in one of her recent photo shoots (and oh boy, they sure are going to get an earful about that when they get back on set) and that Matthew apparently didn’t know who Justin Bieber was. He also saw the usual amount of fan-awwwing about Chris’ witty quip about Lady Gaga on his Ellen appearance. Cory was about to search for Mark when he caught sight of his name on one of the page summaries.
It wasn’t too weird to see his name alongside Chris, seeing that they were co-stars and all, but in this particular instance, the site’s name intrigued him a bit. Furrowing his brow, a screen capture of his and Chris’ scene in Ballad greeted his eyes when he clicked the link. It took him a couple of seconds but his eyes almost popped out of their sockets when his brain caught up with what he was seeing. He was aware that fans loved to pair Finn up with either Rachel or Quinn - Kevin, to tease them or something introduced them to the so-called ship wars - but what he is seeing now as he scrolled down the page of the site is entirely something else. He knows that Kurt Hummel’s crush on Finn Hudson was an open secret in the show but he also thought that people understood that, as shown in the Home episode, there was no hope for that ever being requited. Thus, it came to him as a source of confusion as to why there seem to be a fan group dedicated to that particular coupling and - as it appeared - are even writing their stories about it.
Searching quickly for his name - that is, his real one, Cory not Finn - on the page, seeing as that was the reason why he ventured to this site in the first place, he bypassed the other entries. Finally spotting the telltale capital C, Cory chose to read that entry and immediately felt all air expel from his lungs as a dizzy spell overcame him. Gulping audibly and wiping the cold sweat that suddenly formed on his forehead, he rapidly checked on the screen to see if he somehow misread before. The written text stayed the same. Half numb and half horrified, Cory took a calming breath of air and clicked on the link for the story pairing him up with his co-star, Chris Colfer, all the while hoping that he won't regret his decision early that day to not watch the new Iron Man movie with his friends.
