['This is my story: I am a Girl']In these final two chapters Takako Shimura has wrapped the series shortly and sweetly. I am happy at the indication that Nitori plans to start living as a woman, as well as Anna's frank intention to stay in a relationship with her, no matter what her gender.
In a way this feels like the end of an era for me. This manga was, and remains, one of my favorite mangas of all time, and I will sorely miss it, and I will miss Nitori painfully. Over the course of these 123 chapters we have seen Nitori grow from a shy little girl in to a beautiful, confident young woman, and it is so, so sad to say goodbye to her.
All that's really left to say now is a thank you to Takako Shimura. Hourou Musuko was to gender identity what With the Light was to autism, what Aiesu was to intersexuality - a manga that broke through the stigma, the stereotypes and the misconceptions to educate people about a little understood topic, creating a truly marvelous little gem in the process. It is an utterly wonderful work, who serialization will be sorely missed.
