HOME

HOME

(Since) I went chasing dreams, the second cold winter
Has come to this town as well
I cried a little from
The warmth of my hole-riddled muffler

The words “Thank you” “Farewell” “I'm sorry” that were left unsaid.
Why can I say them
Without any shyness when I'm walking all alone in the twilight (*1)

Well,   let's go back home   To the times that you were always there (*2)
The scenery moving past the window quite resembles the sky of times past (*3)

It hasn't changed at all   This scenery in front of the station
The faded Diamond Park
If I sit down on the swings and close my eyes,
I can recall the smell   of those days

When we were together laughing in the twilight (*1)   Those times
I think of them innocently, irresistibly, lovingly
I'm not trying to put up a front, I genuinely think so (*4)

Well,   let's go back home   To the times that you were always there (*2)
The shortcut walked on the way back from school   quite resembles the me of times past (*3)

What I want to convey, not through writing or digital means,   but through my own voice
The warmth of the heart   Gently embracing you
Please feel the warmth   Like a child (*5)

Well,   let's go back home   To the times that you were always there (*2)
The thing we've been looking for by groping around
It will certainly be found as it is right in front of us

Let's go back home   To the times that you were always there (*2)
The scenery moving past the window   quite resembles the sky of times past (*3)

Notes:
Disclaimer in first post of my journal.
(*1) In the twilight / Yuugare no michi - I left out the “no michi”, but it means “down the road as twilight falls”
(*2) To the times that you were always there / Donna toki mo anata ga iru ano hi no bashou e - Literally this line means something like "To the place of that day where you always were", poetically indicating going back to a place but also a time.
(*3) Of times past / Itsuka no - Technically “of someday” - it is not specified if we are talking past or future tense. However, I found this translation better suited as it brings forth the sense of nostalgia and longing that is intended.
(*4) I genuinely think so / Kokoro kara - Literally “kokoro kara” means “from the heart”, which in this case holds the same meaning as to what I translated.
(*5) Like a child / Kodomo no you ni - Meaning that the gesture is innocent yet lovingly and should be taken so.
