"It’s Matsumoto-sama~!!!"
The entire female population cheered, flailed and some fainted upon seeing high school royalty, Matsumoto Jun. Everything seemed to be out of control as he crossed the hallway surrounded by high pitched flails from all his fans. He strutted cockily and threw a vibrant smile at one of the girls. He got a faint in response. He was on every female’s heart and the number one rival of every one of the boys.
“Matsumoto-sama?” A girl, swaying from side to side, said as she stared intently on the floor. She was shuffling her feet.
“Mmm?” went Jun’s response.
“I… Anoo… I… like… Anoo… Etoo… I…” The girl couldn’t get her words out of her mouth.
Jun knew what this girl was about to do. He waited patiently for the girl to connect her words properly.
“I…”
Jun sighed. ‘She takes longer than others…’
“Ano… I-like-you-Matsumoto-sama-please-accept-my-feelings-it’s-okay-if-you-don’t-return-my-feelings-as-long-as-you-accept-mine!!!” The girl said as she bowed low, offering a clean white envelope with Jun’s name beside a cute little heart.
He was far too used to this. “Thanks.”
He took the envelope and smiled at the girl who blushed scarlet.
“Arigatou gozaimasu!!!” She said to him.
Jun nodded his head before leaving. He entered his classroom, throwing his bag at his seat as his best friend greeted him.
“Yo.” Nishikido Ryo, another royalty (yet not as famous as Jun) called out to him.
“Hey.” Jun replied, and then sighed at the sight of the mountain of fan letters on his desk.
“Another one of those days, huh?”
“Yeah.” Jun replied with a wry smile. “Remind me to wrap these up first before I throw them away later, okay?”
“Too much to read?”
“Nah, just too flattering… It’s not like I’m a god here, you know.”

Jun has always been the overrated one in school, flailed over by everyone and is always on the spotlight. He enjoyed the attention but sometimes it was just too much. He can’t even go to the comfort room without getting the feeling he’s being watched.
“Why don’t you do something to lower your popularity?” Ryo suggested.
Ryo and Jun were at the school rooftop, drinking soda. They leaned at the wired wall as they watched people below leave the building. It was dismissal time and it was always around this time when Ryo would get his daily dose of rants on Jun’s ‘fans’.
“Like what?”
“How about wearing something nerdy and be a fashion disaster?”
“I don’t plan to ruin my reputation, Ryo.” Jun cleared out. “I just… I just want to lessen the stalkers.”
“You never had a girl friend, ne?” Ryo asked.
“Yeah. No girl has ever looked beyond this pretty face.” Jun replied. “It’s not exactly that easy to find a girl who’ll take me seriously.”
“Have you ever tried??”
“No… What are you trying to say, Ryo?”
“Jun, get a girl.”
“EHHH???!!”
“You’ll lessen your fan letters and your confessions and all that stalking if your fangirls lose hope in being your boyfriend. You’ll be able to do so once you find yourself a girlfriend.” Ryo said.
“That’s just crazy!”
“Nah, I’m serious!!! If you get a girl, you’ll lessen the fangirls’ confessions and all that.” Ryo explained.
Jun thought for a moment and concluded it was not a good idea.
“Ryo-“
“I’ll choose the girl and go along with the plan?” Ryo suggested.
“Wait, you’re telling me to pretend to like a girl so that I’ll be able to cut down the number of stalkers?” Jun asked, still in disbelief.
Ryo nodded.
“I can’t just lie to a girl like that…”
“Think of it this way: You’re making one girl’s dreams come true…while the rest…err… break down and cry.”
“Ryo, I don’t know…” Jun felt uneasy about all this.
It would work well for him and the girl, whoever would be chosen, but could he live with this lie?
“As long as this little secret remains a secret, you wouldn’t have a problem, ne?” Ryo said, showing utmost confidence in his plan.
“Except in my conscience…” Jun murmured.
“Just think of this as a break from all the stress…” Ryo said, “I mean, you wouldn’t have to deal with all those girls flailing at every move you make. You can always just break up with the girl or something when you feel like you can’t take it anymore…”
“Ryo, I’m not sure if I can do that…”
“Oh, come on! And hey, this ought to be fun, ne?”
Jun sighed. Ryo had a point. He needed that break. He needed a time off from all those flails he hears and best way to get that break is to get a girl…
“So, what do you say?” Ryo asked.
“Let’s give it a try…” Jun replied.
“Good!”
“BUT, only for two months… After two months, I’ll tell that girl the truth…” Jun said. Well, more like he promised himself.
“If you say so…” Ryo replied, shrugging it off. “Now, let’s choose that lucky girl… Any requirements?”
“Uhm, I don’t want her to be obsessed with me or else she’ll be clingy…”
“Sheesh, that’s gonna make this choosing hard!” Ryo complained. “But anyway, anything else?”
“I want someone who doesn’t keep a high profile. Someone who isn’t that famous but has what it takes to be one of us… She must have a good reputation in our school. Probably someone known to be kind and adorable. Nice to many but can still kick ass when needed.”
“Jun, you have a lot of requirements!” Ryo complained, “But I think I have just the girl…”
“Who??”
“See that girl there? The one that just left the building.” Ryo pointed downward.
“You mean that one with the red hair ribbon?”
“Yeah.”
“That’s the leader of ‘Matsumoto-sama Is So Hot Fan Club’! No way.”
“Oops!” Ryo scratched his head a bit before choosing another female. “How about that one?”
“The one by the tree?”
“Yeah, that girl.”
“Ryo, she’s the principal’s daughter!!! No.”
“That one?”
“Ryo, she has the bug girl. You know I don’t like bugs!”
“Her?”
“She’s a pedophile.”
“How about her?”
“Nerd.”
“Her?”
“Obese.”
“Her?”
“Stinky.”
“Her?”
“Sure… If you want me to puke.” Jun complained. “Please choose properly, Ryo.”
“How about…her?”
“Who?”
“That one carrying a blue bag.”
“Everyone is carrying a blue bag. That’s part of our school uniform.” Jun pointed out.
“I meant that one, by the gate… The one on the right…”
“You mean the one with curly hair?”
“Yeah…”
“Hmmm… I think she’s…perfect.” Jun replied with a smile. “Do you know anything about her?”
“Nothing much, Jun. But I do know her name.”
“What?”
“Hino Rei.”
