Murphy's Law

This week has been a trip and it's only Wednesday. On Monday, I was seriously ready to give up by noon. I went to work at Lisa's and everything just seemed to be going wrong. Lisa was already kinda pissed at me for getting all the addresses on her holiday mailing labels project messed up. Pricess Salima of Switzerland was apparently residing in Santa Fe, NM! On top of that, when I went outside to eat, I left the screen door closed so her doggy Ricky wouldn't bother me while I ate. Poor guy never eats apparently because he just jumped right onto the screen door and knocked it out of the tracks. I tried to fix it but I didn't do a very good job because it fell when I went back in and right on top of a wicker chair. After telling Lisa about this (which I could tell she was frustrated about), she asked me to take out the screen and give it to the workers who were building her moat (what I'm calling it - it's actually just a stream that they are widening behind the house). I left the door open and it started to rain and soaked a good area of her wood floor. I tried to sop up as much of it as I could with paper towels, but then I was just like "screw it" and went back to work. When Lisa and I were going to go to the post office in separate cars, I noticed that one of my tires was severely flat so I had to ride with her and wait at the post office for about an hour. I got my tire fixed though later that day.

I decided I wouldn't let myself get upset over everything that happened on Monday because a positive outlook can really change the way you feel about things. I just really didn't need to be depressed at the time.

Time passed. I lived. I breathed.

Fast forward to today (or earlier last night, since it's 3:10 am THURSDAY), and I am driving up Seaver Drive. A car stops in front of me and I assume (naturally) that the driver is going to back into a parking spot. However, the driver decided to do a U-turn without signaling. Our cars collided at a speed of 20 mph or less, but there was significant damage to his car, not really mine. His driver door was severely dented in and my passenger blinker cover got shattered. According to the driver, he says he was going to go from his parking spot which he claims was about 30 yards back and go up to the CCB. However, if we take a closer look at what was going on and the position of the cars, it becomes quite clear that he was lying about this. First, the accident happened right by a large red zone and a crosswalk. Therefore, had he been getting out of a parking spot, he was illegally parked. Secondly, if his parking spot was 30 yards away then it doesn't make sense why his car would be in that position coming out, especially since he was heading to the CCB, which brings me to my last point. If he was headed for the CCB, then why would he be making a U-turn going up Seaver Drive to head down it? These things don't add up. I'm sorry.

Well, everyone was fine, it's just going to be a big hassle to deal with all of this in the coming weeks. I am also a little bit suspicious of the whole situation because right after the accident, the passenger jumped out of the car and scurried away almost immediately. What would motivate someone to leave the scene of an accident in such a manner?

Oh, and Danielle left for Basic Training yesterday and that made me sad. It has only been a full day but I already miss her and am planning what I'm going to send her in my letter.

Lord have Mercy on me!
