Escapist tv and a couple of pics
The following commentaries aren't too deep but definitely spoilery for the aired episodes:
I don't know about anyone else, but I've been going OH DEAN and OH SAAAAAAAAAAAMMEH a lot. (and also, 'OH CASTIEL U NERD LAWL'). Oh Dean, thou doth protest too much, but I'm not surprised at all considering both of them have different coping mechanisms (Dean: repress and distract; Sam: hide and wallow). And I pretty much was shouting to Sam to say no to Lucifer, that silver-tongued bastard, esp since he wasn't forthcoming as to what happens to vessels of powerful angels (see Raphael's). Speaking of which, I'm convinced Castiel's the sole occupant of that human body. I mean, Jimmy and Castiel was quite literally blown to smithereens. If we're going with a benevolent deus ex machina that's responsible for Castiel's return and squirelling Sam and Dean to safety, I'd like to think s/he's sent Jimmy's soul to salvation.
And if we're on the subject of vessels and active retconning, if before we assume Azazel's blood went a long way in preparing Sam into a suitable vessel for Lucifer, are we to assume Dean's story started since... he sold his soul, thus kickstarting the whole apocalypse dealio? Since coming back from Hell, when Castiel literally put him back together? Or that the Campbells had always had angel blood in their family, that partly explains Azazel's fascination with Mary? Heck, could it be from the unsuspecting Winchester side?
I'm still laughing too much at Castiel at the brothel, even if they laid it too thick. But I can't help it - Misha's terrified face was beautiful, and it cracks me up that they somehow cast another man with eyes even bigger than Jensen's. XD Also I'm choosing to see it as incredibly sex-positive that Castiel seems to be so embarrassed by his virginity (LAWL NERD). Hahaha, chibi!Cas back in the day, too busy with his studies on lore about stuff like Enochian sigils to manage time to make some Nephilim bebes. XDXD
Also, congrats for the budget boost to your music acquisition dept. XD Relatedly, this reminded me of a Merlin behind the scenes special I saw the other day. As it was a BBC show, it had at its disposal the BBC media library, which is pretty much all works by British artists, gratis. And it came to a point, after one too many clumsily edited trendy song of the now, that I just went, "OH THAT'S JUST SHOWING OFF." I think it was the unexplained The Ting Tings.
This is my shallow show, so I've nothing to add except, EVERYONE IS SO PRETTY AND CUTE. Merlin is hopelessly in love with Arthur to be sure, but homg, ARTHUR/GWEN IS SO CUTE AAAAAAA. I'm determined to enjoy it, before their Arthurian fates assert themselves. :( :( Poor Arthur, you're just determined to love mouthy servants. <3<3<3<3<3 I'm also glad Gwen isn't made up so plainly as last season. This show turns me into a Mary Sue-writing tween I swear - but that's only cause it makes plausible sense if someone like me turns up as Gwen's cousin. /comment on non-white casting.
The way they've been telegraphing how underappreciated Merlin is/feels, I really hope they're going somewhere with this. When I say that, I mean extended Arthur grovelling. XD It's not unreasonable -- Gwen's already started him on his training. HAHAHAHA.
By the way, I completely did not realise there was an Arts for Grabs this weekend, to celebrate Raya it seems. There was a stall selling miniatures, and the miniature pasar malam fried-stuff-onna-stick stall, complete with assorted fishballs and kuali etc WAS SO CUTE. A couple of other things:
I'm pretty sure that's Hokkien for 'I Am Your Father'. XDXD
