Alright, here is what you need to know: the crabs have a virus in their saliva. You get bitten, you will get the virus, and the only way to cure it is to have one of the magic-using Healers cure it. If you don't get it healed, the wound gets more and more infected, it doesn't close up, you start coughing blood and getting progressively weaker with every-worsening symptoms. And when it reaches the final stage, you turn into a Cloverfield monster.
I know because I was there when the man who became the third monster transformed. [not impossible to pick up the disturbed notes in his tone at this point]
And with the newer, larger crabs, the disease apparantly works even faster; you start coughing blood within a few days. We have no way of knowing how long it takes for the victim to go critical now.
I'll tell you what. I've had two friends who got bitten - one of them right in front of me - and who then went off and hid it from everyone, thinking they could take care of it themselves. All they succeeded in doing was letting it get so bad that they were forced to get help anyways, and worried a lot of people in the process.
I'm only going to say this once, Leon: Get. It. Healed. Now. Or I will hunt you down and drag you to the nearest Healer myself. Don't think I won't.
[Yeah, he's preeetty darn serious about this, and pretty darn convinced Leon has been bitten. Leon's acting too much like some other people he knows]

Look. Don't worry about it. I'll take care of it. I was planning on swinging by Sora's place anyway. The first guy I talked to pretty much cinched it for me. It's just...it's better to know as much as I can about these things.

Don't even go there, Leon. That was the reason my friend Ziva had for not getting her bite healed for two weeks [obviously still sore about that]. We have studied these things, Leon. We have notes. If you want to know more about the crabs, then for crying out loud ask someone on Team Science for their research data! It is amazingly more productive than sacrificing your health so you can get a closer look. [evident frustration bleeding over from the Ziva incident]
