Trouble is possibly afoot. And these two just hit it off amazingly.
Nakhti: *walks slowly through the streets, disdainfully taking in his surroundings from beneath the hood of his cloak, his ornaments jingling softly with every step*
Lo Hak: *already under stress from the bath house and now Jess's own stress at Hortez leaving, he's really not paying attention. With the ledgers clutched in his arms, he takes a corner quickly and rams into someone, the books clattering to the ground* Oh! I'm sorry! I didn't see you!
Nakhti: *staggers back, then sneers down at the man, contempt evident in his voice as he speaks* Obviously. Tell me, are all the people in this town so clumsy, or have I been lucky enough to come across the village oaf?
Lo Hak: *gathers his things and stands up* No, sir, but don't you think you're a bit to far from home? Your village misses their idiot.
Nakhti: *has his spear pointed at Lo Hak's throat within seconds* Impudent maggot! You'd best curb that tongue of yours unless you'd like to lose it!
Hak: *Well, doesn't this look familiar? Where was this now? Oh, wait, that's right - every other day of his life* *looks up at Nakhti calmly* Little boys shouldn't play with such dangerous toys.
Nakhti: *growls and presses the point closer* Who are you to call me a "little boy", worm? You look scarcely older than the miserable brat I've been scouring the countryside for! Let's see you call this a "toy" when it's sliced you open!
Lo Hak: *well, won't deny that point IS making him nervous, but he's not about tell that to Nakhti* Hmm, but if you do, that means murder. Murder means prison. And prisons means severe time taken away that could be spent looking for this person. So, if I were you, I'd kindly remove the offending object.
Nakhti: *doesn't move* Murder is nothing new to a warrior, and that's only if the authorities...such as they are...find the body anyway. In any case, I have no intention of allowing myself to be detained here, if I have to fight my way out, I will do so gladly. This whole journey has been far too tedious, after all.
Lo Hak: *damn, he HATED guards/warriors of any kind - bloody to damn self righteous pricks* *putting ooooo so much sarcasmn/mockingness in his tone of voice* Hmm, my, doesn't that make you the tough guy?
Nakhti: *growls, irritated with Lo Hak's attitude* You certainly are in no position to be so insolent, cur! Give me one good reason I should not slit your throat right here, and it had better be an improvement over your last attempt!
FangirlQuatrina: ((...XD; So, these two are apparently going to somehow end up on speaking terms? :D; ))
TheLunagirl: (Um...yes, somehow - we're getting there! XD;; )
FangirlQuatrina: ((That should be interesting. XD; ))
Lo Hak: *is so having a heart attack right about now, but has learned that showing you are is NEVER a good thing with these people* *smirks at him* What would taking my life do for you? Besides, any man can take another's life. All this will do is show your like every other scumbag out there in the world. *laughs* Quite frankly, it's all you're mounting up to be. *steps back a pace and begins to walk around him*
Nakhti: *moves the spear to block him, not about to let him get away so easily* You're quite an idiot if you can laugh like that when someone is within inches of killing you. And don't think you can just walk away from me, either, after insulting me like that!
Lo Hak: First off, you aren't the first to do that to me, so you're nothing new and not half as threatning as other who have done it. Second, I don't expect you to, but I mean, why wouldn't I insult you when you can't even curb your own tongue and talk to a person decently?
Nakhti: Somehow that doesn't surprise me in the least. With that brazen attitude of yours, it's probably some sort of miracle that you've survived this long, I'm sure. *sneers* Do not presume to lecture me, I have no reason to show respect to a blundering mongrel!
Lo Hak: *heart attack over, now it's irritation* Oh, for the love of god! You are just like him! *throws the ledgers at him* Stupid, idiotic, foreign prick!
FangirlQuatrina: ((...now to try to figure out how to have him not kill him. :D; ))
Nakhti: *knocks the projectiles aside with one movement and thrusts the spear at Lo Hak with the next, so that the blade nearly cuts his face* You really don't know when to stop, do you? There's a line between courage and stupidity, but I doubt you've ever come close to it!
Lo Hak: And I doubt you've ever come close to decency, you overgrown gorilla! Jesus, you're like the older version of that bloody scroll maker Hortez!!
Nakhti: *pauses, and grits his teeth, restraining himself from cutting the younger man down* Don't compare me to that worthless child! What do you know of that boy, anyway?
Lo Hak: That's he a stuck up brat who thinks he SOO much better than everyone else around here! What's more, he's leaving and now Jess is all upset, so I'm all stressed out, and now you're pointing a spear at me, and if you don't take it away right now I swear to god I will claw your bloody foreign eyes out, monkey!
Nakhti: *narrows his eyes, not moving for a moment, during which it's obvious he's fighting against the urge to attack again, before finally jerking his spear back and striking it against the ground with a frustrated growl* ..............You....is that all you know? *scowls thoughtfully, still struggling to keep himself under control*
FangirlQuatrina: ((Aw, them starting off so violently is making this so difficult. x_x ))
Lo Hak: The guy won't talk to me much...but he talks to Jess enough that Jess will talk to me about him. So, in a round about way, I might know more. If you're looking for him, better catch him now cause I think he's leaving - either to head home or on some journey or another. I don't like him, so honestly I don't care.
Nakhti: *grimaces, unhappy with finding such an irritating man to be the most reliable source of information he's been able to locate* Unfortunately I'd heard he already left days ago, so I believe such advice comes far too late. *sighs* This person you mentioned...would he know where he's gone?
Lo Hak: *pauses, watching Nakhti for a long time, and his old insticts come back to him* Who ARE you to Hortez anyways?
Nakhti: *looks back, quietly considering what he's learned and how he can use it* What does it matter to you who I am?
Lo Hak: I may be a peasent by your standards, but I'm not a fool. Depending on what and who you are...I think we can work something out where we both get what we want. By your looks you're related to him - and by your attitude. I picked that up easy enough.
Nakhti: *bites back a ready insult to avoid losing this potential opportunity* Is that so. And just what could you possibly want with him, since you've already expressed your distaste for the boy?
Lo Hak: I dislike him, but he's important to Jess, and his leaving is only creating more problems for Jess. So, I'll tolerate him, if for Jess's sake. In retrospect, I need him here at Budehuc. *looks Nakhti up and down* I can bet you might like that too.
Nakhti: My duty to my father is to find his heir and bring him back to the palace, preferably by the end of the month. *frowns* Though I imagine even you can tell I've no more love for the boy than you.
Lo Hak: *ponders what he said* Preferably? *smirks at Nakhti* So, if he doesn't show up...I can think of someone who might be next in line for your little family's throne, am I right?
Nakhti: Not that missing that deadline would make any sort of difference. *narrows his eyes and watches Lo Hak suspiciously* But what would you know of any of that, anyway?
Lo Hak: *rolls his eyes* I was raised on the streets, not the backwaters. I'm well aware how family succession works, and by the looks of you the fact that Hortez is heir isn't exactly your cup of tea.
Nakhti: *glowers bitterly* ...so you think I'll cooperate with you to keep him in this little town, is that it? And what is it you gain from being saddled with your enemy again?
Lo Hak: Jess will be happy again, and I loose a stress factor. And I don't THINK you will, I know, cause as far as I can tell - apart from killing Hortez outright, daddy dearest will never let you be head of the family.
Nakhti: ......Oh really. That person you keep mentioning...what is that boy to this Jess, anyway? I can't imagine he'd associate so closely with anyone around here, but I'm rather surprised he stayed in a place like this as long as I hear he has.
Lo Hak: *grins at him* You don't get another word until I know you're actually in on getting him to stay here permanently, or close enough to it.
Nakhti: *twitches* If that's the way it is, then perhaps I can just find out for myself, directly from the source.
Lo Hak: Hmm - let me outline this for you. Jess likes Hortez, and wants him to stay. You want to take Hortez away. Hmmm, those sound like contradictions, yes? Look, you help me keep Hortez here, I give you want you want, capish? In the end, his staying here helps you as well, so it's not like you get hurt from it either.
Nakhti: *sighs and rubs his forehead* And where does the fact that our wayward scion has already left this place figure into this? Do you presume to lure him back somehow?
Lo Hak: Well, if I can find out where he is from Jess we can work something out, I'm sure. Hortez obviously won't be happy to see you, so...*cocks his head, watching Nakhti, calculating* There might be a way. Look, I'll talk to Jess. You find a place to stay. I'll meet you tomorrow in the bar around my break time, okay?
Nakhti: *frowns, none too pleased with Lo Hak's sudden bossiness, really, who did he think he was? Still...* .........Hmph. Very well.
Lo Hak: Good. My break is around one, so try to stay low, okay? I don't need my inquiries becoming double suspicious by people knowing you're running around to much.
Nakhti: *rolls his eyes, still irritated with being talked down to, but willing to endure it for his own purposes* I'm obviously not going to get anything else out of the rest of the population in this town anyway.
Lo Hak: *gathers his ledgers and smirks at Nakhti* Looks like I underestimated you. You're not the village idiot after all. *turns and walks away, waving over his shoulder*
Nakhti: *watches him leave and mutters under his breath, smirking unpleasantly* Funny, doesn't look like I underestimated you very much at all.
Ahaha. This can't possibly bode well.
