Ahhh... so far, so good.

Well, like I said before, it would probably be December until I posted again.  Here it is.
This semester kept me pretty busy.  The biggest change that has happened with me is that I dropped to part time hours at work.  I tried keeping up my full time hours (about 60 per week) while I was in school, but kept running into too many problems with being late to class.  Since I was only allowed to miss 7 hours of class each semester, and I missed 2 in the first two weeks, it was quickly becoming a problem.  As a consequence of dropping my hours, my pay rate increased, but I'm having to COBRA my insurance and I'm only getting about 24 hours in per week.  It's made it really hard to swing this financially, but I'm managing with help from my mom.  I'm picking up every hour I can during the break, and trying to build back up my sad bank account.  I know that the day I get my tax forms in the mail, they are getting filled out and sent in, since I'll probably need my tax return money by then.
I took my last final for the semester last week, and got all A's and B's for my classes.  I'm satisfied with this for the moment, since my goal right now is to simply graduate.  I'm in Phi Theta Kappa, and it looks like I will probably graduate with honors, barring any disasters next semester.  I finished the third semester Med/Surg- Oncology, Pediatrics, and Public Health nursing.  Next semester brings Cardiology (my favorite!), Psychiatry, and Management.  I'm a bit nervous about the Psych half of the semester, but I fully expect to excell at Cardiology.  I just completed my student teaching last month for teaching Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), so now I can teach both of these required certifications for physicians, some nurses, and all paramedics.  They are the classes that tell the docs and medics how to run cardiac arrest calls, and set the industry standard for treatment.  I've been keeping up with all the latest changes, so I'm really looking forward to the cardiology class.  I've got a HUGE advantage over almost the entire class because of my paramedic experience, and I have a feeling I'll be spending a lot of my time tutoring others in the fine art of reading cardiac monitors.
Another big change that I've had in the last couple of months happened when I adopted 3 cats from a local animal control (kill) shelter.  Pharaoh, Moses, and Ameelia have settled in fairly well.  I enjoy their company, and especially like that the mice have disappeared that were infesting my house.  I've had an offer for a lab puppy, and I'm so desperately tempted, but feel that I just can't give a puppy enough of my time while I'm still in school.  Maybe in May, once I'm done, that will become possible.  Until then, I'll be satisfied with just being the chief litter box scooper.
That's mostly all that has been up with me.  I've finally, completely recovered from my sinus surgery... that only took about 3 months, but I'm enjoying the ability to BREATHE easily through my nose, now.  I've not otherwise had to see a doctor, except for the normal followup appointments for my diabetes.  No new injuries!  Hopefully I can keep this up for a while.
