At the time I got this, I was halfway through Book 2. Now I just started into Book 3. I'm just totally geeking out on this series! XD
Are books also the seasons? *looks back* Oh yeah, the one where they are sucking on frozen frogs? That one was hilarious! The last two eps in the Northern Water Tribe was wild. Had shaman elements that reminded me of Ponyo (the moon), and No Face from Spirited Away.
Which is funny.. if I had to choose between this and Naruto, or Harry Potter and Chronicle of Narnia... I go for this. I also love how much homework was put into the martial arts and the Asian cultures and history too.
Book 2 was especially good, liked almost all the significant eps. Especially the ones with character development... touched by Aang's range of emotions. Some of that related to my how real life struggles. Toph is just as much of a riot too with her dry sense of humor. XD
Starting into book 3, I'll keep an eye out for Piando. Thanks for the website. So far I've just been poking around DeviantArt to seek out any cool arts. ^^
Wow, you've been breezing right though it. Avatar didn't attract my attention until the beginning of season 2, so I had a lot of waiting to do for the conclusion of the series.
Wow, I had a great big long paragraph explaining how each book/season works (each one focuses on one element, etc) but yeah, each book = a TV season. I'm not used to referring to a TV show as having "books" instead of seasons so I'll use the terms interchangeably at times.
And oh man, looking for cool arts on dA? Erks. I've found some but, I think one fan summed it up the best with a one page comic (alas, I cannot find it). Basically, the entire gang is gathered together and one of them says something like, "Now that the series is over, I guess we'll go on living through the fans." *cue a montage of horrible crack pairings, Katara spazzes out and screams* ^_^;;;
The creators of Avatar actually make fun of/thank their fans for stuff like this in a video they put together for the SDCC a few years back. Here's a link to a video of it. :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LiUtbcpjd8A&feature=related
Aye, it does help having it streamed in on Netflix. No thanks to my five year old son who has figured out how to use the remote... we've had a couple spontaneous Avatar marathons over the weekends. Definitely have seen the first few eps over and over during the Thanksgiving weekend - then Josh discovered the other two books. (Oh noes.. he can't be watching them out of order on me!) ;p
Netflix is the best option I have, since basic ATT Uverse has NickToons blocked. I do see they are airing a lot of Avatar cartoons in the line up. I guess to revive those who saw the movie... I'm afraid I am too far into the cartoon to want to see the mess they made of the new movie now. That, and Netflix hadn't made it available just yet. ^^;
Seasons vs Books: I am guessing that it's been sectioned into Books as a way to chronicle the lessons that Aang learned as he tackles each of the elements. Naturally, he already has the air bending down pat, so there wouldn't be a book for that. May be better to leave this where it was, as to prevent dragging it out to exhaustion. *shrug*
And yes.. I have seen the activities of love-sick, sex-crazed fangrrls enough times to know of those hazards. Definitely been tip-toeing around there. *laugh* Although I do highly reccomend this guy's comic-syle artwork: http://darkkenjie.deviantart.com/
Well, my husband I have started re-watching Avatar ourselves. lol. I know I've seen the series a bunch, but I always manage to notice little bits of animation that I had missed before.
Y'know...there aren't many people that would call the movie good, but I don't think I can call it bad either. Casting was a huge issue, but some of the actors did a good job.
Hahah. I'm sure ATLA's fandom is not worse than any other fandom, when it comes to shipping and stuff. I'm just admittedly very...er, strict when it comes to what ships I endorse. I'm boring and prefer sticking to the pairings established by the show. :p I guess it just seems like in order to get a certain ship to work the character's personalities wind up...skewed. Thus, I hide.
But that artist, Dark Kenjie? Yeah, I've seen their work before. Their picture of Azula scared me. O_O Oh, and if you haven't seen the person yet, they have some amusing comic strips. :) http://rufftoon.deviantart.com/
(woof, now that finals and christmas parties are over.. back to this!)
*laugh* I may rewatch the 2nd and 3rd books again! The finale at the end was just awesome. I would have never guessed the battle to end like that!
Okay, Netflix finally has the DVD version of the movie, and I'm waiting to get that. I also have heard that it's like just about Book one.. not too much detail from the earth and fire bending stuff. But my cousion also thought it was good (since she hadn't seen the series).
And yet, these nagging questions perservere... What happened to Hawkie? Did Toph ever make amends with her parents? And... was Sokka's space sword lost forever? (yeah, really deep ones.) ;p
I'm with you on canon pairing too... afterall why bother being a fan of the show if I didn't like the characters and who they befriended? After all, Mei did sound very determined to keep Zuko as hers. No one mentioned that! *laugh*
*eyeshift* Let's face it the facts: Azula is just plan scary.

Oh yeah, one more short, funny video. A slightly edited version was released in the SDCC. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KHmE1ZWLxv0
