Warren was walking back to the room with Bobby’s father. The younger x-man was still seated by his father’s bed, where he had been the last three nights, only leaving when the doctors had forced him from the room.

Looking in he saw the man he loved asleep in the chair waiting for the doctors to come in to tell him everything would be okay and his dad would recover. He had managed to talk to the doctors, there was a chance, but the risks were too great. They even admitted that their specialist wasn’t sure he could do the operation without hurting the man more.

That’s when Warren had told them to call in whomever they needed, and that he’d foot the bill. Yeah, Robert would be pissed about it when he found out, but he had just started to fix the drift between him and his father. Warren remembered Bobby saying a few times in the last few weeks that he’d be at a loss without him.

“Warren…” Bobby’s voice was still low, glancing at him he saw that the younger man was still asleep. “Warren, please, don’t leave…”

He remembered hearing those words, just before he had left for Egypt the last time. And like a fool that time, Warren had left.

Crossing the room he checked on Bobby’s dad, seeing the older Drake was resting peacefully he knelt by his friend… no, they were more than friends. It had taken the last trip for that to get through the stubborn Worthington’s head. Bobby had always been there when Warren needed someone to talk him out of something stupid. Even when they were kids and he thought that Bobby was just a spoiled brat, Drake had allowed him to cool down and think a little.

“I’m not going anywhere this time Bobby, you just worry about your dad okay? I have a few doctors coming as soon as they can to help.”

Ice blues looked into his sky blue eyes. “Warren…”

“Heard what happened, I had to come.” He relaxed a little when Bobby slipped his arms around him. He wrapped his own around him. “Really, thought you were going to deck me first.”

“I really should, but don’t want to wake Dad… I can’t lose him Warren.”

“I’ll do everything I can to help okay? Doc said he’d be asleep the next twelve hours though. He wanted me to get you out of the hospital, he’s worried about your health too, so you’re coming to the penthouse with me for the night. Don’t argue alright? Like you can’t lose him… I can’t lose you.”

Bobby shook his head, but didn’t really fight him as Warren stood them both up. “As soon as he wakes I’ll get you back here. You need rest in a bed.” Warren didn’t want to say it, but Bobby’s eyes were circled, he doubted the last few days he really slept. The thought of Bobby wasting away like that sent cold fear through him. He couldn’t lose him. Not like that. He held Bobby tighter.

“Hey, air’s good Warren.” The light hearted joke was missing a lot of the spark it usually held.

“Yeah, sorry, come on, you’re coming home with me tonight.”
