Hi everyone. Feel like doing a conformation critique? Make sure you note positives as well as negatives...he's my baby after all, haha!

Photos of the silly beast this way )

What's the breed, height, and what are you doing with him? He looks TB, but I don't want to guess.

The worst I see here is his topline, which of course might be better now if he's filled out, but some of it is just going to be him. His wither is a little high, and he has a definite "hunter's bump," a slightly roached back, and his back also seems excessively long. His dock seems set a little high, too, I can't really tell, completely. So yeah, it seems to me most of his conformational deficiencies are between his wither and his dock.

His stance/the pics are not great, I know you know that; so it seems he has a decent angle of his hip, but I don't know if that's articificial because of how he's leaning forward in the second pic or what. The shoulder and neck seem nice, not too upright and not too long, and the head plain or possibly even coarse, maybe with ears a little bigger than they should be.

What I like most about this boy is his legs though. OK, he's straighter in the hind leg than what I prefer, but again, I'm thinking some of this might be related to the stance in the pics. Otherwise, though, he seems very clean-legged, very straight and correct (from what I can see), not too much pastern angle (which creates more tendon stress), and most impressively, he's got very good bone for (I am assuming) a TB.

I more-or-less like him for the breed. I think that so long as you take care of the fact that he's got a very long back, and keep him strong up there, he's a decent-looking boy. :) I think I would own him.

I agree with the above and would like to add that he has a really long face compared to his neck. Although, that could be an optical illusion because the angle of the photo is a little funky.

He's like 80% TB, with some Oldenburg. His sire is a registered Oldenburg, but his sire's dam is a TB, so he's got a lot of thoroughbred. His topline did improve come spring when we could go on long romps around the grounds and work on hills (both of our favorites, hehe). Yeah, the pictures really are sort of terrible, haha, but I don't have many photos of him. His back is very long, not an illusion with the photos. His head is actually more attractive than the pictures let on though, haha, espeically in that first one, yikes, what a dork.
