ok, one of my friends brought this warmblood mare to me to be broke (yes, in October). While she was here she told us that she was looking for a good team penning horse. Well, one of my boarders/ working students has been trying to figure out a way to "upgrade" from her extremely cow oriented, long backed, no desire to jump QH to something a tad sportier. She's not looking to do the A-circuit, just some local hunter shows and lower level dressage. The rider was a barrel rider until this past summer so she's just learning too. Anyways, the friend suggested that they trade the following mare for the team penner QH.
We agreed to do it on trial and so far both me and the boarder LOVE this mare's attitude. We sat on her and taught her a very crude stop and go within two days of her getting here. We are now trotting her on the lunge w/ the potential new owner up and she has yet to do anything "bad" (she does have a lot of "dumb" moments but never mean, nasty, marish etc. etc.)
Anyhow I think she's going through with the trade one way or another but I wanted to see what you think about this mare conformation-wise. There are some things that I don't like and then there are some things that I cannot quite place that I know bother me.
She is only 4 and she's got to be at least 16.1hh. From what I am told she's decently bred : Westphalian and Dutch.
I hope you guys can make some sense of these pics!
horrible confo pics, I know but I rarely have the camera at the barn and it was raining that day!!!!
She looks so much like a mule, but aside from the large ears I cannot place why!!!!
