Woe be the 10 year old boys of America...

Especially if their mothers live in the middle of no where and only have WalMart to choose from [note, i understand 'choose' in a 1 option situation doesn't work... feel my pain]. The birthday wish list was simple, sweet, and very much on par with what a 10 year old boy should want: fake guns, knives, and bow [he has real knives and bow, wants play things]; silly putty, soldiers, cars, and the all important mp3 player...

alright, we'll hit wally world--they have all that, i've seen it there, and some of it is fun! well, apparently WalMart has made some sort of statement regarding the war situation in the world or the freedom to bear arms and act like a ten year old boy and no one informed me. Not a single war toy to be found... no fake weapons, no toy soldiers, nothing that could be used for violence. Oh sure, we have cowboy hats... but no pistols to go with it. We have remote control trucks and cars, no tanks. We even have every action figure based off a movie you can think of, but no soldiers. Nothing that could be considered 'war toys'. Now add to that the fact that they're removing [press released and openly stated] guns from x% of their stores and it makes a mom go, "hmmmmm"

I don't like political statements forced on me, i don't like social attitudes decided for me, and i do NOT like what i'm seeing at walmart. woe be the ten year old boys who are now only supposed to play with commercialized products approved by hollywood and generic creations of some mega corporation somewhere. thank god he still enjoys mud, bugs, and making his own weapons out of scrap wood from the garage...

but i got the mp3 player =)
