[Brian's a little ways off, slicing and dicing a rather ugly looking spider. He's definitely winning, though he looks a bit the worse for wear-- a few cuts, and an odd pallor that suggests he's been hit with poison and hasn't shaken off its effects yet.]

[Ah, and there's a spider for her sneaking down a tree trunk. She moves away to get at a better striking distance.]

[He stands as the spider dies, and straightens up a bit as the healing Light washes over him, letting out a deep breath. He turns to say something and spots the other spider; without another word he crouches and... disappears, or at least seems to.

A few moments later he reappears behind the beast, driving a blade into its torso and twisting it cruelly.]

[Not so much as a chance to Holy Fire it's spidery butt. Ah well. Penny listens briefly for more spiders and, with the coast clear, collects the two Venom Sacs from the dead arachnids, leaving the rest of the loot for Brian.]

You're really good, Rudy. Came out of nowhere there.

I've got a few points in subtlety.

[Whatever that means. He winks one bright, green eye at her and bends to poke at the corpse, seeing what it has to offer.]

[But it's all good. For some reason, she's been getting a lot of winks today.]

[Normal Penny would think of a reason to deny that. This Penny, however, is quite intent on finding more spiders. Which, actually, doesn't take long. Another spider drops from the forest's canopy directly in front of her, snarling and making all sorts of other noises that normal spiders don't make. Ah--now is a perfect time for Penny to earn Brian's praise. She raises her stave, meaning business.]

Holy Nova!

[And no more spider and full health. Three Venom Sacs--quest complete. Except for the part where there seem to be more spiders skittering towards them. They're everywhere--in the trees, on the leaf-littered ground.]

...Do you want to make a plan here, Rudy?

holy nova is an AWESOME spell and it's sparkly :D

[Well, she's not normally his type but that bodice does kinda help, Penny. He just smirks at that comment, and if he intends to reply it's cut short by the influx of spiders. He can't even get to the first one before she fries it; but he moves to stand back to back with her after that, eying the approaching monsters dubiously.]

Might want to do that again when you can,

[he suggests, and tosses the daggers he holds; they spin through the air, chopping limbs and cutting spidery torsos in a circle around where he stands, before ending up back in his hands, blades coated in greenish spider ichor. Yeah, I don't know, it works in the game somehow.]

[Having someone at her back is nice. At least she'll be able to see any spiders that attack her. And oh, are there spiders. Bigger-than-normal, green-blooded spiders that look like they eat kittens for breakfast.]

I'm good with that plan.

[Penny would be mightily impressed with Brian's skills if she could spare a moment to watch but, for the moment, she's busy alternating between offensive and defensive spells as the spiders bite and claw (do normal spiders claw?). They both have to make it out of here alive, after all.]

[He doesn't answer, attention focused on the beasts coming at them; sometimes tossing his knives, sometimes hacking and slashing, once or twice kicking a spider away as it rears to spit poison at them. The piles of eight-legged corpses don't seem to be doing much to dissuade new ones from coming at them, though...]

[Penny whacks a spider away with her stave and restores their health. Where are these spiders coming from? With her mana dwindling, a retreat looks like a good idea.]

I hate to say it, Rudy, but maybe we should move it. We could be in the aggro radius of a nest.
