Summer, etc.

Well, summer is well on its way. I wish I could say this summer was going to be a blast, but there's some things I don't like much about it.

First of all, that Rachael is always five minutes away from me but there is only limited time I can spend with her because of various factors really makes me sad. It sucks.

And the fact that my entire summer is going to be spent working at Wal-Mart here in a week or two. I changed my availability, so I should be getting pretty decent hours. And they gave me a raise. So I can't complain too much about Wal-Mart itself. In all actuality, they've been pretty good to me, but the fact that I have to work all summer kinda bites. I wish I could win the lottery or some obscure distant cousin would will me a couple hundred thousand bucks. It would be nice if summer was like it was when I was a little kid - no worries at all. Just to wake up and play all day, go to the pool and swim my life away, come home and take a nice long nap, eat dinner and watch some tv before going to sleep and repeating the whole thing over again.

But there are joys in having to be this age. First of all, I've been with the woman that I'm know I'm supposed to spend the rest of my life with for eleven months. We've known nothing but indescribable love since we started dating. I'm so thankful for her.

Also, in spite of the fact that I have to work all summer, it feels good to have a job. Even though I'm only a cashier, it makes the day feel somewhat functional when you go to work and do something, make a little money. It's not my calling in life or anything ridiculous like that, but at least it's something to do.

In other news, I'm reading a book called Deception Point by Dan Brown, the author of The DaVinci Code. It's a really interesting little thriller. It's not destined to win a Pulitzer or anything, but it's a great read. Next on the list is The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath, which should've won a Pulitzer from what I've heard.

House, M.D. is perhaps the best show on television, just for the record. I bought the first season and I'm practically salivating in anticipation of the second season. Everybody needs to watch the season finale on Tuesday at 9 on Fox. It's going to be amazing.
