my weekend
This weekend was a special one as I participated in Relay for Life. I spent the afternoon decorating luminaria bags. Then in the evening the bags were filled with sand, a candle put in. The light from the luminaria guided the relay people on their 24 hour walk. (one member from each team was supposed to be on the track at all times. Sort of like giving 24 hour care to an ill loved one.
I did make a special luminaria for Vivian's friend Sariah. (Vivian, I hope you don't mind my including your name here. But you should be honored as one of her caregivers.)
It is easy to be a bit depressed when you realize that each of those luminaria was for someone who has battled cancer, some still surviving but many passed. But people participate to raise awareness and money for funding research. There is hope that those who come after us will not have to suffer so much.
