Christianity can help

The letter to the editors by Edward E. Bridwell in the March 7 Journal Star really hit the nail on the head. Truer words were never spoken. Those who were not around during World War II don’t have a clue what patriotism and freedom are all about.

In a time of war against our country, everyone needs to pull together in unity, like any team, to preserve what we have. Our society today has become so self-centered that there is no willingness to forgo some of our freedoms to prevent the enemy from overtaking this country. Today, such an enemy is the terrorism occurring all over the world, and which we have had the misfortune to experience three or four times since the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center the first time.

The radical Muslims have only one goal in mind, and that is to kill all non-Muslims. There are also other terrorists in the world who have the same desire, especially against Christianity. Our society in this country also is plagued by the desire by many to destroy Christianity. This country was founded on Christianity and must remain so to maintain the freedom and principles upon which it was founded.

All we have to do is look around and see all the degradation that is occurring in our society. Abortion, gay marriage, incest, pornography, murder, cohabitation, spouse abuse, obesity, paganism, lack of respect for authority, drugs, (lack of) respect for each other, corruption of one kind or another, and on and on.

If everyone would repent and ask Jesus to come into their life, these problems would all go away, but that will not happen because there are too many hard-hearted people in this world with closed and self-centered minds. God help us!

3/7: Life during wartime

This is in response to “Blatant disregard” (letter, Feb. 18). Cassie Fleming supposedly quotes Franklin D. Roosevelt. Fleming is either sadly mistaken, intentionally falsifying or ignorant.

The fact is that during World War II, civil rights were disregarded.

Facts: Thousands of citizens of Japanese origin were forcefully detained. We experienced forced rationing of many necessities, i.e., butter, meat, gasoline, auto tires, and other restrictions. Traffic was controlled. Top speed limit was 35 mph. There was information control. (The sick performance of news reporters, seen on TV, would never have been permitted.) There was censorship of servicemen’s mail. Aboard our ship, a committee of officers and crew read every letter before it could be mailed. I had a letter returned because I mentioned the weather. And citizens were forcibly conscripted for military service.

All of which is a suspension of civil liberties and civil rights. All of which had a purpose, no nonsense. We had sufficient intelligence to know that if the objective was to be attained, we had to discipline ourselves. Thought control was openly brandished. Our national unity was our top priority. When the job was done, we could go home. Our citizens are ignorant of this.

It is questionable that our citizens care that we have been viciously attacked repeatedly, not just 9/11. Indifferent that 3,000 of our citizens died at the hands of crazed persons, destroying us with out own equipment.

This is war. We had better act like it, or learn to speak Arabic and memorize the Koran.

now, the first letter, with my commentary:

Christianity can help

The letter to the editors by Edward E. Bridwell in the March 7 Journal Star really hit the nail on the head. Truer words were never spoken. Those who were not around during World War II don’t have a clue what patriotism and freedom are all about. this just SCREAMS "my geriatric panties are in a bunch!"

(daleck voice): we will exterminate! exterminate!" There are also other terrorists in the world who have the same desire, especially against Christianity. Our society in this country also is plagued by the desire by many to destroy Christianity. This country was founded on Christianity rar! every time i hear this i get cranky. and must remain so to maintain the freedom and principles upon which it was founded.one of those freedoms was freedom of religion. So we need to give up that freedom to maintain freedom... actually, taht makes sense in the context of the rest of his argument... that we must give up freedom to remain free. in any case, i think he's full of shit.

All we have to do is look around and see all the degradation that is occurring in our society. Abortion, gay marriage,(ok, typical conservative whatever here...) incest, wtf? but I know it's just my liberal brainwashing that makes me see homosexuality as different from incest pornography, murder wtf? killing someone is the same as looking at naked chicks?, cohabitation excuse me, my head has exploded. Living with someone is the same as killing someone? wouldn't "fornication" be the bigger problem, anyway? Hell, I cohabitated with ... my father. I lived with him. It's the FORNICATING where the cohabitation gets morally sketchy. Why didn't he just say "LIVING IN SIN!!"? , spouse abuse, obesity yes! fat people cause the end of the world!, paganism, lack of respect for authority, drugs, (lack of) respect for each other, corruption of one kind or another like the corruption in the current administration? you know, t he one you probably voted into office?, and on and on.

If everyone would repent and ask Jesus to come into their life, these problems would all go away, yes! jesus! the ultimate weight loss pill!!" but that will not happen because there are too many hard-hearted people in this world with closed and self-centered minds. like you?God help us!
