Long update

I decided after a little hitch with my work and my interfaces to completely start again with the interface and begin what is now the final interface design (interface number 4). I decided the problem i was having with my designs were that they all relied on interesting visuals which i was creating, finding some good aspects about them and working furthur on their development, to then realise they weren't suitable for what i was trying to create, which is essentially an art piece. My last decision on this was to create my art piece interface with something that i was creating my art piece with, which was basic and interesting interactions using Flash, and Photography. The beauty of using a digital photograph is that with mistakes, changes and problems, i can use another photograph or even change the way i used the photograph itself. I was really pleased with some of the photographs i took several weeks back in Hull as location points for Bled, as i believed they were different enough for people not to recognise the area, but also some of the photographs were really interesting to look at over and over, which is something i would like to accomplish is my interface.

I had also seen some really interesting uses of action script for full screen flash creations such as http://www.lauramccafferty.com where this designer has used easing functions to allow full screen changes in browser size to add to part of the functionality and design of the site itself and not look completely functional, but designed as well. I createda script which will allow this to occur and after seeing my beta results and reactions from peers, decided this function was a must with my project. I also developed a script which was inspired by a few tutorials i had seen by http://www.brendandawes.com/ Brendan Dawes which could easily ease different tools in flash such as ._alpha and _xheight using maths rather than tweening, which other than a small small change in file size would make for a fun wyas to experiment with these features and use maths and flash together to my advantage.

Today i finished the passport home page section for the piece, where the user straight once they have logged on can see their avatar along with some detaisl such as name and date of birth. I also added a digital clock to the page which other than a tool which is fun and interesting to add to the passport section, also adds a new dynamic to the home page, which before was lacking. This clock reads from the user's computer clock so no changes to this script would have to be made for different users around the world or savings time changes which happen twice a year. The person factors of the passport have been really pleasing for me as it really adds a personal feeling to the site, especially having my picture in the top corner. I feel this will make the whole experience alot more personal and then, a user can feel more immersed in the project. The only problem i currently have with this is that i have yet to work with uploading of images in flash, so before i can ensure this will be a main factor of the passport section, i will have to work on image uploading into flash which i've had no experience of before.
