Among other books I've been reading lately are three by Timothy Zahn that I've enjoyed. Thanks to Stoutfellow for his recommendation of Zahn some months ago, I got some at the local used book store but haven't gotten to them until now.
I first read Manta's Gift a few weeks ago and enjoyed the unusual alien race he created, although I didn't like the humans in it a lot. Then, this week I read Conquerors' Pride and finished Conquerors' Heritage yesterday afternoon. I hit the library for the third in the series, but they didn't have it. I'll find it later and, in the meantime, I now have several others by him. I recommend the first two in the Conquerors series, and hope the last of the trilogy is as good as the first two. Zahn truly gives some thoughtful insight into what it would be like to have immortality, but without the corporeal abilities and only some of the senses, and the kind of effects that forcing that immortality might have on a society.
I *will* find that third book because I want to see what happens to the aliens that I have come to care about!
