I may get quite a few things I want by, if not before, Christmas. My Uncle Charles has been pestering me to death about getting the Jeep back to him. June called Friday night and asked me if I wanted her to go with me to pick out a car. Hahahahahaha. Yeah. Right. That's how I wound up with the three pieces of shit cars that I had. I told her no, that Daddy and I would go because maybe then I wouldn't get screwed over. Yesterday, Daddy, Ben, Caleb, and I went to Rhinehardt Toyota in Montgomery and looked around. They had one 2005 Toyota Corolla CE (which is the standard version) on the lot. It was tan colored, with a CD player, power locks but manual windows, automatic transmission, etc etc etc. Daddy had called the car dealership earlier in the day and talked to one of the salesman so he met up with us and I got to test drive the car. It drove really well. It was a little weird for me at first being that low to the ground because I'm so used to driving about 5 feet up in the air in the Jeep.
I think I'm going to buy the car. Of course, in order to get the college grad discount, I have to have the school verify that I graduated. That's another person I'm going to have to get a form for. I printed out my transcript yesterday for the guy and he said that might be sufficient but he wants me to see if I can get USA to fax him something verifying my graduation from college. Gosh, I know it's unbelievable that I would ever graduate from college, but can't someone take my word for it? Geesh. I told him I'd try Monday to get them to fax the information to him. He said he'd try to find me a different color car. I told him I wanted a blue, lavender, silver, or forest green colored car and he said he'd try to trade with someone and get me the car I want. If he can't, I told him I'd take the tan one.
When I was test-driving the car, I kept thinking the guy was going to throw up on me. He kept belching and making these gurgling noises in his throat. Turns out, he had gastric bypass surgery about a month or two ago and his stomach is still iffy with certain foods. He's lost over 80 pounds though. It was crazy. He was really friendly with me, as I'm sure most car salesmen are. He reminded me of my Uncle Earl. Earl is deaf so he thinks that because he has to read your lips, you have to do the same for him so if you're not looking right at him when he talks to you, he'll keep patting your arm. This guy's not deaf but if I wasn't looking right at him when he talked to me, he'd pat me on my arm. He's also a website designer and computer programmer in his spare time and when I had to get on the internet to get and print out my transcript, he showed me the different websites he works on. He's even got his own server in Russia and he hosts all these professional websites, raking in a ton of money on them. It's crazy.
But anyway...Monday, I have to get South to fax my graduation verification stuff, or try to do it at least, then meet up with my dad in Montgomery after work so we can see if the bank will let me finance on the car. Also, I have to see if I can pay the car insurance on the car. I found out that I currently make about $18,000 a year, which isn't much but more than I thought I made. I really hope that will be enough income for me to buy the car. As it stands now, it's a little over $14K but the college grad discount will knock it down by $1000, I think the guy said.
Hopefully, though, I will have my car by Christmas. I will be sooooo excited if I can get it. I'll finally have a decent car. My first brand new car. It gets 38 miles to the gallon as well, which will be awesome. I'm tired of spending $40 a week to fill up that Jeep.
Also, even though this may just be the Weather Channel trying to get my hopes up...
There's a chance we might get snow on Christmas.
A good thing would be, of course, the snow. A bad thing would be that my dad would use that as his excuse to keep Mama from getting to spend time with us for Christmas.
My dad is such an ass, though. He lets Caleb act any way he wants to then yells at Ben and me for saying something to him about it. And yesterday, when Caleb asked him if I was getting the car, he told Caleb, "No, they don't sell cars to fat, ugly chicks." UGH. He kept trying to keep Caleb from telling me, but when he did, I was like, "Well, we know where I got the fat and ugliness from because it sure isn't Mama." He is such an ass. And he told the guy at the car dealership yesterday, when the guy asked if I paid rent, that I "needed to straighten up or he'd start charging rent". Please. And then my dad was listening to the guy's ringtones on his phone, which were pretty cool, and he started trying to dance to it. It was embarrassing. My dad is so stupid sometimes.
Well, I need to go. I've got to take a shower and get ready for church. Yep, Amy's going to church. Mind-blowing, isn't it?
