From the website of the astronomy teacher of a friend of mine.  (Link to come.)

"Every year, as the Earth orbits the Sun, it wobbles a little bit on its axis. This wobble is called “precession”. This is the same effect as a spinning top wobbling or precessing as it slows down. The Earth’s precession is due to the gravitational tug of the Sun and the Moon. What this causes is a slight change in the Earth’s position at a particular date every year, hence the apparent position of the Sun against the background stars changes. This means that your Sun Sign that you read in most newspapers is incorrect for 75% of the population! Since the Earth’s precesses once in about 25,800 years, there should be a correction of 1 day every 78 years. Some astrologers correct for this……most don’t. If you want to really know what constellation the Sun was “in” (your Sun Sign) when you were born, look below:

Constellation Sun “within” Dates

Capricornus Jan. 21 - Feb. 16

Aquarius Feb. 16 - March 11

Pisces March.11 - April 18

Aries April 18 - May 13

Taurus May 13 - June 22

Gemini June 22 - July 21

Cancer July 21 - Aug. 10

Leo Aug 10 - Sept. 16

Virgo Sept. 16 - Oct. 31

Libra Oct. 31 - Nov. 23

Scorpius Nov. 23 - Nov. 29

Ophiuchus Nov. 29 - Dec. 18

Sagittarius Dec. 18 - Jan. 21"

Patty & Josh, I'm looking in your directions.
