I have daffodils! I plant them and onions to ward off the gophers, actually, but what's not to like about big sunny yellow daffs? :D I planted carnations, as well, and they've been blooming like troopers since mid-Feb. Go figure. And the little violet I swiped from my in laws is blooming in its old peanut can pot.
It's not a violet like you see in the garden stores, it's flower is tiny and all purple with two tiny yellow spots on the 'face', the petals are a bit pointier. The smell is PURPLE. Well, if purple had a scent, I imagine that would be it. It's intensely violet. I think these came from back east somewhere, and somehow, they've managed to survive in the dry climate here. I've tried to plant them in the yard here, but they don't manage. So I dropped it into the old peanut can. It seems happy there.
One of the phainopeplas (these are cute little black and white birds with a little crest on their heads - females are overall gray with crest) came winging right up to me to tell me the mulberries aren't leafed out yet (or maybe that she was investing in gold I don't know, she had a LOT to say to me!), but she found a lot of gnats and went on about her business.
And eggs! One of the hens, Clara or Henny, is laying! I think Henny, the eggs are rather small and are distinctly pink-tan. I have to order proper coops for them, the old ones are just falling apart.
Off I went Tuesday, I think, to find Coyote. Up, upwards and then not where I thought! Typical! XD Up in Devil's Canyon, in fact, which is a devil's canyon because of the puma, which is the devil. But there aren't any there now.
But up past the stream, and almost to the base of mountain, near a ruin of a retaining wall, I found a run that looked like it dropped off in Wonderland or thereabouts. :D It all feels happy now.
